I can also smile at the students while talking to them, and be courteous. It is important to speak to their interest and to be sincere with them.
Interesting point James. Sales skills are still part of the equation and your perception is a great awarness to have. What are your next steps in improving your skills in this area?
That is great awareness Caroline. Remembering the student's name and making them feel important is a great way to enhance your people skills. What are some other things you could do?
People skills are essential to me to improve in order to build rapport with the students. I will take the habit to remember them by name, make them feel important and comfortable.
Reading people is important to me as well.
I think my sales skills would need some work. I need to be able to find the balance between casual persuading and pushy sales person.
It's great that you have identified which tools will be helpful for you in your job Shan. I'm curious, with your diverse student group, how specificially, will you use mirroring as a benefit to your process?
I think mirroring and voice control sound like good tools for me. I get a lot of students from different backgrounds.
Interesting insights, Monica. What aspect of your sales skills would you like to develop further?
I would like to develop my sales skills. I may know alot about the product our school offers but if I cannot effectively sell it than it is useless.
I get the sense that you want to make sure that you connect with your students in order to best help them. That's wonderful! What plans do you have for practicing building mutual interest?
I need to practice finding Mutual interest. I know this will halp with my rapport. Our students are so intelligent, that is is crucial for me to find a common ground with them in order to best suit their needs and really connect.
for one to have good communication with others is allowed a first and believe in yourself and others after admitting their faults and virtues, and always have a real and proper communication and listening is the most important point of communication. .... listening ....
Once again, this is great awareness to have, Carlos. Isn't it interesting what impression non-verbal communications can give to others? It sounds like you may seem a bit intimidating to others at first. What might you do to make yourself appear less intimidating to new people?
My attitude, people say I look mean at first and then after talking to me they tell me that I am a sweetheart. I must have a mean look.
That's a great start, Jany. What specifically will you incorporate into your face to face communication to improve your ability to build rapport?
Face to face communication
Awesome awareness, Ashleigh. What do you plan to do to 'soften' your tone?
I need to work on my tone. I can be very direct and come off as being too serious or brash.
Reframing can be a powerful tool indeed, Michael. Keep me posted on how your students respond to this in the future.
I like the reframing portion of this module. Learning how to reframe content and context of situations I feel will be a huge plus in working with potential students.
