I would view my phone personality with a score of 80%. I speak with an accent so sometimes it's a little bit hard for others to understand what I am saying; however, I try to speak a little slowly and clearly, and with time I believe I will improve.

Maria,
It's a fact that those on the other end of the line can "hear" your smile!

I am very friendly and use all of the skills mentioned to find out if a potential student would be a good fit for our program. Today I used some of the tips that I have learned from this course and I felt that I was a much better communicator.
I never thought of asking who would help to make the financial decision. Today I did ask that question and was told that the student's fiancee would. I then told him that we should set an appointment so that she could come along and view the facility.
He actually did set up a time! I'm happy that we havegotten past some of the objectives!

Christina,
This is great! I wonder if people around you fully appreciate the animation while you're on the phone! It REALLY does help to even stand up while on the phone to help your energy flow through on the phone line. :)

After reading some of the past posts; I can't agree more- a positive phone personality is a key factor in providing a friendly and professional experience. It makes the "in-person" meeting flow much easier. I have found my actions while I am on the phone mimic my actions in person; smiling, nodding my head, even gesturing with my hands at times. It may be silly- but I find it definitely works for me!

My telephone personality is very clear, informative, and friendly. The caller gets a sense of understanding and very relax during the conversation of the call.

Dabel,
What specifically in your phone voice conveys this? Is it just tone or are there other elements?

My Phone Personality is the key to my success. Clients truly can see that I enjoy my work and that I am willing to assist and help them with their needs. I have a very positive tone of voice that clients enjoy, as a result clients are willing to come in for an appointment.

My personality is very happy and cheerful when I answer the phone, It is very important to costumers that you have a positive attitude at all times. not only it makes a client know that you enjoy your job, but it also makes them feel comfortable talking with you and that you care about there needs.

That's a great plan Joseph. Some people have a trigger to help them to remember to check themselves. How do you remember to check before the call?

I would say my personality is very positive and upbeat on the phone. I try to always check myself before I make a call, so I have the right attitude going in.

Great point Theia. You're right, you never know what's going on in the caller's life so approaching each call with patience and empathy can help. Thank you for your post!

My telephone personality is usually happy and excited to be talking to each person who calls in.

A rude or abrupt person will sometimes put a damper on my enthusiasm and it is then that i try to not personalize the rudeness. You never know what may be happening at the time of a call or what is going on in a callers personal life.

It also helps to have a co-worker that can help with resuming a positive attitude and to get back to enjoying taking the calls.

I have been practicing smiling during phone conversations and have found this to be a great technique to utilize when trying to maintain a positive personality. I would describe my phone personality as positive, caring, helpful and attentive to the student's needs.

Good luck! Let us know how your new skills help your inbound calls.
