Equal Access for Disable Students
Having equal access to course material and campus is very important to a student education. Although they have a disablitiy, they deserve the same rights as other.
I agree. A LD should be disclosed in advance. Hopefully not as an excuse when a class is difficult and now all of a sudden they have one.
Tamela,
No question about it -- students with disabilities have rights, but they also have responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is to identify themselves to the appropriate authority on campus and request assistance as needed.

I agree with both of you, but it is also the student's responsibility to let the campus know if they have a disability that would require the help of the faculty or staff to help them be successful in acquiring their education. It requires both parties to work side by side to get the job done. Hiding a disability only hurts the student's ability to get the proper education or resources they deserve.
Regina,
I agree. What the student DOES with the opportunity is up to them, as it is for all other students. But seeing that they have the opportunity -- fully -- is our responsibility.
