Right Now is the best time to be in school, or is it?
Due to the economy it is hard to find certain jobs but on the other side when the economy is booming and the jobless rates were down it was hard to find another type of job. For some people it will always be hard to find jobs, but when you have an education in any field,it gives an edge in any economy.
In the field that I teach it is important to be trained and retrained as much as possable.tecknology is changeing as much as computers. By one today and tommorrow it is obsolete. We tell the student base and they can see them selves ,that the old as well as the young need to be trained. Now is the time when employement is down to train for all of our futures.
i've told my students find what you like doing in the field and excell in it, but not limit themself's and expand there career by going to school
Good point, Kurt. Looking for a job is one of the most difficult things people have to do and the students are scared. Any excuse can be used to derail the process. Learning to make lemonade from the lemons is important for their personal growth.
Having information about a student's locus of control [internal vs. external] could be useful when helping them prepare for the next step.
I have told all of my students that during these hard economic times, our customers are not able to afford a new car every time their old car runs out of warranty. The end result is older cars needing more cash paying service. This paints a very positive picture for those students that feel they're entering a doomed trade or line of work. This often times will influence if they stay the course or fail to finish.
This is a good time to do a career change and go to school because when the economy picks up you will be ready and trained.
Any time is a good time to be in school, the more education you have the better life becomes. The students not only learn trade skills but also what it takes to become employable in any walk of life.
We are teaching the students a skill that will always provide them with work. The world runs on cars, trucks, trains, generators, and hydraulics. They are the best around with the knowledge to repair these items. They will always be in demand... School is great!
Yes of course you will have a better chance of a good position with a better education. Scince i've been in this trade i have not run out of vehicles to work on
At this time when in some professions the jobs out there are scarce, it might be a good time to look for training in a field where the job market is booming. Also as another person in this forum stated, education in any field can be a plus in finding a job--- some other fields can relate to other fields.
I have to totally agree with you! Further it is becoming more and more that without some type of education most employers do not want to carry the cost of training just to see how far you may or may not take the job. It is not in these tough times finacially exceptable to train un-educated peoples. It is too everyones advantage to have a higher education regardless of trade or economy.
I tell my students that they can apply what they learn in school to any field that they choose not just the one that they were trained.
