What's your success rate? Do the students respond positively to this initiative?

Is there an appeal process if the student has a medical excuse for the missed time? Do they have to pay to re-take the course if there are extenuating circumstances?

What are some of the more unusual techniques you use to achieve these ends?

What are some of the programs you have to reduce day to day stresses? Could other schools do the same things?

Is this failure because of academic performance, attendance or some other reason? Does a successful appeal mean that the student must re-take the course but not pay for it or that he/she doesn't have to take it again?

How often do you need signers? Are they UTI employees or contract workers?

A recent example of school commitment at our institution came from an award initiated by a member of our industry. The "Outstanding Student Award" was in the form of a $15,000 scholarship. The award took into account student attendance, grades, as well as volunteer involvment and mentoring or tutoring other students.
I spoke with the student recieving the award, and he stated that the recognition from a high member of our industry was more powerful than the award itself.

We have a student of the course program. At the end of every course the instructor selects one student for the award. The selection is based on grades, attendance and behavior. The student is then awarded a pin they can put on there ID badge to show everyone their accomplishment.

We have a veary similer thing in place with tracking time missed and ceeping the student responible for ther efert to be on time.

Well this Institution try to stay on top of the student with our student service department.. They make sure the student are keeping there grades up. And helping them with any problems.

Whenever there are marketing events to showcase the campus, staff members participate. We had a dunk tank one time and there were too many instructors lined up to get dunked.

We have a student tutor program to help improve student success we take some of our top students and have them work with other students to improve grades

One of the tools we use is a call sheet at the begining of each class we ask the students to put a contact number so if they are late or they are about to attendance fail we will give them a call and find out if everything is OK. This can be done by any staff member and this builds trust with students because they see that we do call when there is a potential problem.

The school has days during the year that last all day and cover many teaching methods

Bill, this is an outstanding idea and truley helps prsospective as well as current students see that they can make it,it is simply a matter of facing and overcoming there challenges. what a great story. How would I go about getting some info on this program to present to my superiors?

We have many different types of fund raisers that raise proceeds which are forwarded to the students pantry. This gives us a chance to directly help those that are in need and maybe in a tough financial position.
As we know, students that are starving themselves and scraping for every penny also suffer from qaultiy learning as there comprehesion and focus become somewhat blurred.

We offer help to students in finding housing, jobs, food, and all of the above. Our staff is committed to helping students cope with things at school as well as life problems if they want to open up. Our main goal is for the students to feel as if we(the staff care) and that they arent just a number. At the same time we do hold them to very high standards as far as attitude, dress, and how they act.

each instructor makes sure all classes are covered and information is shared so everyone is on the same page that way if there is an absentee the fellow instructor picks up where the other left off. That way there is no interuption in the students'education

at our school we have a program in place to talk to students who are consistently late or have failed multiple classes in the past. an instructor gets a list of names and we go talk to the students one on one to see if there are bigger issues or if the school can help in any way to help them succeed. i feel it shows a personal interest in thier education with out getting too personaly invovled with the students.

My institution offers many diffrent resources to help students struggling with diffrent problems. For example we have a food pantry for student that my not have anything to eat, roommate referalls, car pool options and counseling.
