Retention

I strongly agree that the staff should encourage and be examples for the student's, because they are considered roll models. When the instructor's have positive energy and give good instruction and feedback this helps that the student's want to be in school. We as the administration try to enforce this behavior.

Holly i totally agree with you. I tell my students from day one , how much i enjoy the field and that my only reason for being here is to fill them with the knowledge that i have. But lately i here so many excuses as to why students are late or mia.

I believe one of the biggest things that affects retention is the instructors. They need to love what they do and be passoniate about it! They need to be encouraging, caring, and respectful. This makes students feel welcome, helped, and maybe even gives them more motivation ;)

Teresa, what techniques do you use to keep your students engaged and eager to learn? Are they different than your peers?

I agree. Learning hould always be serious but also fun to keep our students engaged and eager to learn.

Maintaining professionalism and being an example to students in huge. Portraying positive energy definitely helps with students' attitudes and responses.

It's crucial for instructors and administration alike to maintain positive energy. If we give students negative energy, we get it right back.

I try my best to retain as many students as possible. I believe that this course has been helpful to me as an adjunct instructor.
