Paul, BRAVO! Spoken like a true educator with a realistic understanding of the classroom and student dynamics. Cindy Bryant
Samantha, You can maintain your college's competitive advantage by following a few steps. 1. Understand your target market “a specific group of students at which your college aims its educational programs and services” 2. Learn from your competition and your students. 3. Create an “economic moat” by setting your college apart from others where the value is seen. 4. Stay on the cutting edge. 5. Use business information resources to increase your students opportunities 6. FINALLY, stay compliant and avoid negative press. Cindy Bryant
Lauren, What types of motivational strategies do you employ on a daily basis? Cindy Bryant

Brian, Exit interviews are critical to understand what you need to do better to retain your students. Your college should have in place a system that works to gather, analyze, and use the data collected. Without a system, you will talk to exiting students, but you will not be collecting the data you need to improve your college OR in this case your financial aid counseling. Cindy Bryant

Wally, The Department heard reports of aggressive recruiting practices resulting in students being encouraged to take out loans they could not afford or enroll in programs where they were either unqualified or could not succeed. Though current laws prohibit schools from compensating admissions recruiters based solely on success in securing student enrollment, provisions known as "safe harbors" allowed this questionable practice. The regulations removed all the "safe harbor" provisions. Read more regarding the Safe Harbors...https://www2.ed.gov/policy/highered/reg/hearulemaking/2009/integrity-session1-issues.pdf Cindy Bryant

Wally, Hi! You have asked an excellent question. I am sure that your campus has a policy and procedure for addressing student complaints whether they be in person or online. Unfortunately - I am unable to answer your question and must refer you to your campus director. Cindy Bryant
Janet, Thank you for sharing your opinion with the forum. Speaking with attorneys could be a violation to FERPA, it is important that the details be clear prior to having any conversations. Cindy Bryant
