About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Olga, Well said. We need to bring our passion for our field and our enthusiasm for teaching about it to class each time we meet. If we do this our students will become a part of our excitement and the motivational process begins. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Olga, This is how you show relevance and application so the more of these types of activities the better. Thank you for making this good point. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kenneth, Good strategies and how you provide student support. This is how you will develop rapport with them and build on their expertise and experiences. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Tammy, So true and this is why we need to see our classrooms and labs through the eyes of our students. When we do this we can make sure to have the environment in order and organized in a way that will support their learning. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Linda, Like your style and how you model what your expectations are for your students. You are helping to shape them into the professionals they aspire to become. I believe strongly in setting the standard and then following it so the students will see what it takes for career success. They may complain about the standards, rules and expectations but once they realize how they are being prepared those complaints go away and they start to concentrate on themselves and their career goals. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kenneth, Respect is the foundation upon which the rest of the course is built so it is important that students understand the knowledge and expertise of their learning leader. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Olga, Well said in terms of the value of a well prepared syllabus. It reduces confusion and enhances the clarity of what the course expectations are for students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Scott, Yes, it would and this is a good example of how to adapt to the learning needs of students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Lawrence, This is critical so the students can settle into the course and feel that they are clear on the expectations and requirements. Then they can focus on meeting the requirements and have success in the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Edward, Good way to set the stage for their course to come. By them knowing how much you care about their success you are setting the tone for the course and how the content from the course will facilitate their career growth. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
