Karen, I agree with you. I know it is a risk to open to the outside world but it does allow you to incorporate others in a "natural blogging" way to interact with your students. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Gracie, You make great points regarding choice of technology tool. I am intrigued by the comment regarding how the instructor will use the tool and its effectiveness. It is very important that it fits your preference. The confidence will show when you work with students. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson

Karen, Could explain more why you think this is important and how you articulate this to your students. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Dawn, Modeling is the best way to ensure yours students are shown proper behavior within communication and particularly blogging. You have to make sure you are engaging so your students are. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Francis , You have a great post as you don't want the blog to be an afterthought; it needs to have meaning in the learning process. Students need to understand a blog's role in learning the material. This can't be just an add on for technology sake. Purpose is number 1. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Sabahudin, Yes, all of these topics have to be covered. I would also look at responses to others as you do want to capture engagement with others. It is so important for students to support their writing with research. That is something they don't always understand as they may not see blogs in a professional light. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Scott, What a great post. This is a great point to ponder. I often provide multiple examples (usually two) of a bad blog and a good blog regarding the term substantive. It helps clarify the term. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Stacy, I agree with you; rubrics are a win-win. Students know what the instructor expects and the instructor can evaluate less subjectively; all working toward meeting and/or mastering outcomes. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Jerome, Yes it should. The rubric should also reflect the outcomes of the course so students are working toward mastering them. You should be able to identify outcomes through the measure of assessment. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
