Karen, I agree with you. What are your strategies in doing that in the online environment? Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Wendy, You make a great point. Students complain at my institution that everyone's Blackboard is different. That does confuse students. You don't want students wasting time with a cluttered, confusing LMS when learning needs to be happening! Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
John, Ease of use for both the student and the instructor is so important. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Martin, How lucky you are to have that those resources. I agree with you it seems that we use a tool for one thing. Bringing to the course multiple technology can become confusing and frustrating. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Wendy, What a great point. This really needs to be done. Also, there needs to be a technology tutorial that students can review. That is important. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Chander, Thank you for adding the point about instructors using assessments to improve learning by making changes to teaching or curriculum. It is so important for students achieve outcomes but using assessment as quality improvement is such a smart, efficient way to keep courses on track. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
John, Thank you for your fabulous answer! You speak the truth. To be honest when I tweak my online courses it seems to always improve my f2f courses. I find I may want my f2f students to think about the discussion beyond my f2f classroom. There is where I use my online tools. It works!!! Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
John, True, you never know what you might encounter but that is true with a f2f course also. You may not know all of the answers, you just need to know how to find the answers. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
John, I agree with you totally. Teaching is communication and it has to be done and done well and repetitively. There is nothing wrong in asking your students if their online learning needs are met. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
John, You are right, particularly with bandwidth. Although it surprises me who many institutions register students for online courses knowing the student didn't have easy access to the Internet. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
