About me

Activity

Charlie-- I like that idea! Asking them the future-related questions gets them focused on their goal. Susan
William-- Having the tutor come to class and introduce themselves is an excellent idea. It takes away much of the fear of walking in to ask for assistance. Great idea. Susan
William-- This is excellent! It is excellent preparation and review of what will be covered and also helps students to feel a sense of accomplishment. Susan
Mark-- Were there other individuals who spoke and/or any interactive activities? Susan
Michael-- I love the 'wall of fame'...it is important for students to see the success of others and is a great encouragement. Susan
Dee-- Being approachable is key, as you point out. If students don't feel they can ask you questions (in class or out), they do start to disconnect from the class and feel there are no options for assistance if needed. Great job. Susan
Rondell-- Yes! This helps students to see that it is possible! Testimonials from current students and alumni is a great way to make that point. Susan
Michael-- The mix of lab and class also helps students retain the information and become more involved with the subject as they can see the practical applications. And yes, lab can be a great 'wake up' call...in the end, students need to know how to apply the information, not just memorize the theory. Susan
Connie-- This is a great strategy and I'm sure is comforting to the students. Susan
Robert-- Absolutely true. Using this inforamtion appropriately to coach, mentor, motivate is very helpful. Susan
