Chuck-- Great questions. Your students can also see that there are many others that have the same background and/or goals. Susan
Charlie-- I completely agree...and really like the 'will not be abandoned' part. That is very important. Susan
Charles-- This sounds like a great exercise! They must certainly learn a lot about many things in doing this project, and all about something they are interested in. Susan
Jerry-- Excellent point. It's not hard to tell when someone really enjoys their job, and it is contagious! We are training individuals for employment and we ought to be excited about that field. Susan
Carol-- Having students clubs/activities involved is a great way to help new students connect with the institution outside of class. I think it gives new students opportunity to know there are other ways to become involved in their school. Susan
Christian-- That is an important balance...maintaining classroom control and still being approachable. Do you have any specific things you do to set that tone? Susan
Carol-- I am so happy to hear your faculty participate. This is very important and sets a great foundation for new students. Susan
Earl-- I like that you have interactive activities. Do you have specific things you have them do? Susan
Earl-- It sounds like you have all the right people involved. Do you use any tactics to provide interaction among the students? Susan
Philippe-- Sounds like your class can be especially challenging for several reasons. Not only is it a difficult class, but it is also somewhere in the middle of their program. This is the time that many students become discouraged. Continuing to support them and reminding them of the available assistance is important. Great job. Susan
