About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Ryan, You have it! Guest speakers have a wealth of information they can share with students. Students are inspired by guest speakers. Patricia Scales
Hi Patricia, Yes, graduate guest speakers add a lot of flavor to the course. Graduate guest speakers are super motivating. Patricia Scales
Hi Marianne, When students mess up I help them see that it was totally their own fault. Students need to learn how to be accountable for their own actions. Patricia Scales
Hi Rich, Our students truly have a lot going on outside of school. We have to let our students know that we genuinely care about them. Patricia Scales
Hi Patricia, It is good to let our students know that we are there from them, and they are not on this journey alone. Our students need us to help them become successful. Patricia Scales
Hi Carl, I love to capture my students attention by making it known how helpful the course is going to benefit them in their career! Patricia Scales
Hi Rebecca, Great way to make course relevancy stick. Students understand the importance of the course when you can apply the course to how helpful the course is going to be in their career! Patricia Scales
Hi Imelda, Our students need to be put at ease as much as possible. Examples reduces fear and provides better clarity. Patricia Scales
