Hi Ronald:
Successful classes are often preceded with praparation, groundwork, and research. More of this will result in more effective classroom session - and student learning.

Hi Steve:
Great point. There are various methods for instructors to learn their strgths and areas needing improvements. The better instructors will realize they can always benefit from self improvement and do a better job - they're not hung up on themselves as the all-knowing/all-seeing master. Being real reaches people more than prententious whatever-ness.

To see where you may be weak or strong . knowing this I could work on this area to make it better.

The more I prepare for a difficult class it seems the difficulty level decreases.

By knowing your own personality traits helps you to play towards your own strengths and develop the areas of weakness. Looking back on my own educational experiences the instructors that I liked it was easier to follow and learn difficult subject matter and the instructors that there was conflict with it seemed as though the information was more difficult to absorb.

I need to know my limitations and therefore, boundaries. The last thing I would imagine doing is to give misinformation which would destroy my credibility. If I know myself, i am more effective in the classroom.

Hi Chan:
Preparation is always good - in small or large doses. And it will demonstrate to your students competence and accountability - just like what you expect from them.

Hi Burke:
Yes. Understanding yourself, your stronger attributes and behaviors brings more of a depth to your classes. I think it builds conf9idence too.

Hi Burke:
Right! Your understanding of self will bring to life those attribute and behaviors that are most beneficial to the stuidents. I agree this process bolsters confidence in instructors too.

I always prepare ahead of time. Students see me I set example. They look at me. I not ready they have no respect for me. Not good example.

Knowing myself gives me the ability to give my students there best experience. If I have confidence in myself I know it will show to the students.

Hi James:
Good for you. Understanding yourself is the first step in understanding others.

Regards, Barry

Hi Mary:
Good self perspective Mary. Striving to be and do our best is a high calling for instructors.

Regards, Barry

Hi Wendy:
I agree the "flow" of how the class feels, is arranged, and the tone the instructor create4s all contribute to a wonderfull first day experience.

Regards, Barry

Hi Marry:
Great! Any method you can use to look forward to class and remain engaged while class is in session is optimal student participation. You have a wonderful approach to teaching your classes.

Regards, Barry

If you do not understand yourself and your strengths and weaknesses, how can you ever understand anyone else? I know myself well and am honest. I prepare more in my weak areas.

If one does not know themself, how can they know anyone else? If you cannot see past your own limitations, how can you help others see past theirs?

Knowing oneself is a tenant of Eastern Philosopy that is incredibly appropriate to the classroom and the teaching style of any instructor.Your "chi" in the classroom really affects how the students pick up on the information being offered.

It is important to know what your strengths and weaknesses are, to better serve your students. I want my students to look forward to my class every day, and to be fully engaged while they are with me.

Hi Stephen:
Yes - playing to your strengths will give you and your students an advantage in your istructional role.
