Barbara,
I love your post...I wholeheartedly agree with you 100%. The students need to feel that connect with the instructor; and have a mutual respect & rapport. This can only develop when the class is well prepared/organized and done so on a regular basis...good retention will surely evolve.

Organization is key for using the class time as efficiently as possible. When students come to class they trust me to prepare them adequately for their future careers and by having a clear lesson plan prepared, as well as handouts and other forms of presentation, I show them that I take their futures as seriously as they do. Being prepared not only ensures the smooth flow of lecture time but creatures a structure essential for both student and teacher success.

Hi.Is important to prepare the classes, so they feel motivated. Remember that you are to them an example to follow.
Ms Melendrez.

I believe when an instructor walks into the classroom organized and prepared to teach s/he is setting the tone and pace for that class very early on. This helps create a more positive and relaxed learning environment. It definitely reduces any unnecessary stress for both instructor and students.
I know if I am well prepared, my classes flow very smooth and I receive that mirror reflection back from the students. The students need to know you care about them and that you take your position seriously.

Aside from the negative impact it has on the student's level of respect for their instructor, it scares me to death! If I feel unprepared or slightly unorganized, I have a hard time feeling confident, and the classroom environment suffers. I can't fly by the seat of my pants! When I've tried I end up rambling, stumbling over my words, getting confused, and looking like an instructor who doesn't know what she's talking about. Being early, prepared, and organized paves the way for a constructive and positive learning environment.

When teaching a class of adults or children your first impression on the class is very important. Either they are going to see you as an unorganized person who's teaching techniques are put together last minute or as an instructor who is confident about the topic and delivery of its content. It comes down to respect of an experienced instructor or one without experience at all.

What if you prepare everything for your class and still have problems with keeping your student involved with the content of your class?

Being prepared very important for you as a Instructor and the student as well. Everything runs smother if your prepared.I have thought I was prepared and was not it makes for a long day or session.

I think the students are looking for certain attributes in an instructor, such as being on time, being organized, being informative about the subject content, etc. It just make life easier to be organized for the students and for yourself. I have seen students that were disorganized themselves try very hard to become organized because they saw that the instructor had it together. Because of the respect and good influence the instructor demonstrated, the student wanted to "raise the bar" for themselves. Just imagine if both the instructor and the students are disorganized, that would equal confusion and chaos.

Preparation and organization prior to each class make for a more effective and competent instructor. Getting the necessary materials needed insure that all the information is covered in a timely and effective manner. Also a well thought out lesson plan with supporting documents gives the instructor time to anticipate any question the students might have and be prepared with an effective answer.

Gaining the confidence and respect of the student is crucial in order for the student to learn the material. If the instructor is unorganized and unprepared, the student is distracted and doubtful about the instructor's ability to teach them the material.

You class will run smoothly if you come prepared then your student will have respect for you, because you demonstrate respect for them by not wasting there time. Being organized can also give you more time to get feedback from the students.

To show confidence, your students need to know that you are organized and prepared for the class.

I am learning this. I have always been organized and prepared for class as a student. I am suprised that I have had difficulty with this as an instructor. If I am organized and have studied the material myself, I do a much better job of imparting the information. I am learning that I need to make a class plan before each class, so I don't get distracted. Much like I review a patient's chart before their appointment, so I am not lost.

Being prepared prior to going into the class room is very important. You will look as if you are rattled, not together and unorganized. their is nothing worse than a bad first impression. Recently one of my students approached me to thank me for being organized, "the previous imstructor never seemed ready for class" per this student. I do not want to be portrayed like this, so it is very high priority to know my stuff and be ready!

I think an instructor should always be organized and ready to teach the class and it shows a great deal of professionalism, the student has paid his or her money for a class and it is our job to give them the best learning experience possible.

I think it is important, because you are not only an instructor you are a role model. The students take their lead from you. If you are unorganized and unprepared they will be also.

An instructor that is not prepaired for class seems to send the students in all directions, the time spent to bring the students back to task is time wasted.

Coming to class unprepared is one sure way to lose students' confidence in and respect for the instructor.

If an instructor is unable to give a lecture effectively and answer students' questions due to unpreparedness, he/she will eventually lose control over the class because students will eventually lose interest and may even stop coming to class.

It is important for an instructor to be organized and prepared for class because it shows respect for their students. How can one expect their students to be prepared if the teacher isn't? Never protray "do as I say not as I do"!!

Being organized demonstrates the soft skills they will need in their chosen fields.
