so there is no confusion and assumption on the part of the student and the instructor as well,to the direction you are taking and what you are trying to acheive during the class, and also to understand all formulated expectations
In module 2 the lesson plan is referred to as a "road map". A road map gets you from point A to point B, using the best route. If you don't know where point "B" is how can you plan to get there? Goals to me are point "B" and the objectives are milestones achieved in class towards completing the goal. The clearer the goals & objectives the more direct the trip can be. (And less complicated.)
It is important to have clear goals and objectives so the learners have a clear understanding of where we are going in the course and why. In other words, throught these, they will know what they are expected to learn and why that knowledge/skills is important for future careers and as a stepping stone in their education.
It is important students have a clear perspective on what ever venture they undertake. A very important way of letting them have this perspective is giving the a well developed and clearly written goals and objective.
The essence of this is that, the students have a better understanding of the subject and are able to objectively access if they are benefiting. Even more importantly, it will be easy to identify specific area(s) were a student is not doing well and better addressed.
Finally, developing clear goals and objectives ensures the whole class progress as a unit.
It is important in order to keep both students and instructors on task with the course. Instructors need to know exactly what to teach in order to convey the information to the students that is necessary.
At the same time students need to fully understand what they will be learning in order to ask appropriate questions and research program specific topics. It also very important to have clear goals and objectives set to give the students something to strive for. Setting a goal to learn a specific skill set delivered in a class will give the student motivation that is necessary to achieve tasks and seek out learning opportunities.
Having clear goals and objectives are critical elements of an effective and successful educator. An educator will use the clear goals as a direction to develope a lesson plan to support those goals and to accurately communicate to the students what they can expect to learn upon successful completion of the course.
Clarity of thier definition also solidifies in the minds of the instructor and students both what the expectations of the course are and provides the students with a baromter for self analysis of their individual progress in the course.
They can also be used during the term of the course to measure how effective the lesson plan has been delivered by the instructor and assess the level of understanding and comprehension the students are achieving.
By constantly monitoring and comparing the goals and objectives to the lesson plan and assessing the students' level of undertanding, an instructor can ensure that he is directly aware of how effective his teaching is being received and retained.
Clear goals and objectives provide the student with the direction of course and the requirements to be successful in the course.
If goals and objectives are defined the students will have a clearer understanding on why this course is part of the curriculum.
I think it is important to have clear goals and objectives so everyone is on the same page about where you are going and how you intend to get there.

Goals and objectives are inportant to have complete plan of attack so to speak for the courses being taught. It allows you to look ahead and make sure that all the appropriate knowledge is passed on in best manner possible. While ensuring that the students recieve the rquired skills as well as a plan and understanding about what will be learned when. This will allow the students to be more proactive in their learning experience.

It is important as a professor to set goals and objectives. They are meant to let the students know what they will experience throughout the course. The objectives will give them the steps to take in order to complete the goals.
