Knowing my students' learning styles helps me remember that they don't all learn like I do. Whereas I learn well from lecture and note-taking, many of them have different needs. I also encourage my students to take a learning styles inventory so that they understand how they learn and can thereby take a measure of responsibility for their own education.

It keeps all the students involved in the educational process and also the ability to use new learning styles.

Learning styles are so very important for instructors to be aware of. So many times students are not performing at their maximum potential simply because of the preferred delvery method of an instructor may not match the student's learning style. We as instructors need to be aware of the variety of styles and mix up our delivery methods to the students in the class. It is too easy to get into the pattern of using one method over another, but it is for the betterment of students that we adapt.

It makes it so that you can shape your teaching days into days in which all students can understand the material in one way or another without needed to have to repeat the material for students who didn't understand the first time around. Powerpoint, models, discussions, writing on the white board and talking all in the same class session has helped me to better convey the material.

By knowing the learning styles of your students you can make better class plans and lessons. This knowledge can be use to create the perfect learning environment.
