When teaching to visual learners, I have found it beneficial to give them a variety of things to look at. For example, I may provide them with various pictures to look at. If possible give them one to hold or to examine for themselves. Sometimes even having them draw one for themselves forces them to examine every detail as they copy it down. This all goes to reinforce the idea as they are forced to spend more time looking at it.

I use the white board to draw out schematics. Also I like to print out wire diagrams for the visual learners to be able to use to highlight and make notes on.

I always try to be aware of my position to the whiteboard in relation to where my students are sitting so that my students always have a clear view of the board. I also try to write clearly, in a large enough font, and reasonable spacing so the students can clearly read and record what I have written on the board.
Another strategy I use for my visual learners is solving problems using several techniques. Many times an algebra problem (which is abstract) can also be presented graphically. For example, tying the solutions of an algebraic equation to the x-intercepts of the graph helps students better understand what the solutions represent.

Hi Joseph,
I also incorporate pictures and graphics in my PowerPoints to demonstrate a point. Sometimes a picture is a worth a thousand words, especially for visual learners.

Hi Arlene,
I have done something similar when marking up a text with students in English classes. Red for the key point of a paragraph; green for an blend of opinion and fact, and yellow for a fact. It really does help the key strategies of development in a paragraph stand out to visual learners.
Cheers,
Cynthia
I teach English composition online. For visual learners, I use PowerPoints as well as video tutorials to explain and demonstrate research and writing skills they are expected to apply. In live chat sessions, I take students into the virtual library to conduct practice searches and show them how to mark up PDF documents with highlighting and inserted notes (this also works well for tactical learners).

For visual learners, I would use PowerPoint presentations that include graphics, live demonstrations, and videos. In my past life, I have created online training modules that demonstrate a process and then prompt the user to repeat the actions. I have always thought this is a great way to train for multiple modalities as it is useful for both the visual and kinesthetic learners.

I would use power point presentations to start. Find a journal or magazine that shows diagrams outling course material when position, and if not make up some visual presentation in handout form to give all the students. You could also draw a diagram on the board for the students to look at and then have a discussion of the facts.

For visual learners, I like to do demonstrations and also try to deliver information visually. Sometimes this means using coins to help a student understand percentages, or using charts/graphs/photos to support a lecture.
Some things that I like to do with my visual learners are having an in depth picture that also explains everything that going on and if there is a movie that goes with my lesson its even better for them. I also think that they comprehend more stuff when i have the videos.
