i could probably only look at my e mail once a day , instead of more often freeing up some time

For some instructors, checking email at specific points in time - and focusing on other things the rest of the time - works best.

Having the right level of access to technology can definitely help you be more productive Daniel.

Having more computers in the staff lounges so we can check our e-mail and do the our other dutys that require a computer.

I prefare to check my email at the certain time this allowing my self to concantrate on other matter important for our students.

I can make better use of time by sitting down and writing out a list of tasks to begin the day and prioritize the tasks and see which ones I could deligate to others and which ones are unneccassary and eliminate them.

I typically have enough time through out the day to get everything done. I will usually check emails several times a day just to look for something to do. I do all my class prep before class so the lecture goes smooth and quik.

Funny but point well taken Jeff. There are some emails not work responding to and some tasks not worth doing. It's important to be able to identify the high priority tasks and focus on them.

Spend time once a day on email so that I can spend more time with students. And relieve stress
by spending more time on delet button.Wow that feels better Ha Ha.

I'm fairly organized but there is always room for inprovement. I do need to get more organizedwith my handouts and lab. Once I get everything together this should free up my time more.

Sharing space can be very stressful James. When I have to share space, I usually try to create an office out of my briefcase. This way, things are always where I last left them and the office can come with me anywhere.

I can free up time by making a to do list,Important items first then less important following.i also need clear space to work more effectively,sharing space with others makes me crazy,i am always cleaning and arranging and get no help.

Having all copies for that day done at the start of class. Pace myself so I can get a feel from the class to the lab hands on portion. This has always been a challenge for me. When i am taking notes i will be watching my time so i can pace myself.

Sounds like you need to just strike a better balance Fred. Finding that balance can take time, but you'll get there.

I find that I lose too much time by going off on tangents in class. By staying closer to the curriculum, I would have more time for actual classwork. However, I also believe in stories, both in a good light and bad light, to illustrate personal experiences. Its hard to draw the line. No diversion at all makes the class too dull & boring.

I have several methods already in place to manage my time effectively I organize my training aids daily and keep pass out sheets fully stocked to save time searching for things and having things on hands keeps me around the students more.

Checking my E-mail just twice a day can save time: once in the morning and once just before leaving. That way I don't miss anything important.

Always looking to see if you might find a more effective way to get material through to the student one that would make it easier to understand and easier to teach.

How I can make more time for myself is to help out in the phases that I teach by helping organize the training aids which will stop some of the run around time to try to find them.
