jim perry they are always worried about money. and how to make ends meet.they may need coaching on budgeting and money handling thus relieving time and stress.
i think they have a real problem solving anything today , the younger they are the worse it seems to get, these young people are not being taught how to think anymore . every thing is being given to them, done for them, too easy, when i challenge my students and make them accountable, give them specific time requirements to do some task, they actually do better and like it because it isnt being done enough, we seem to be in a pass them along world . i will not do that!!!
This is true James. It can be very difficult to communicate the importance of not wasting time to students. Sometimes it seems that only when they enter the workforce do they understand the value of good time management.
students have trouble with time.they waste time and for some they do not even know they are wasting time.In class we have schedules,a certain amount of time for tasks.I stress they have to work on schedules, they will have to perform tasks and assignments in a given time frame, they will not have all day to put on a water pump.I also stress that time is prescious,it is fleeting,do not waste time, plan properly, and work from a schedule, with time alloted for each task.success will follow if time is managed properly.
Yes, do practice what you learn Christophe. Bringing what you learn to your life will serve you well.
Stress is indeed one of the most distractor and unhealthy, unproductive and has greart negative
effect in all our lifes so please learn from the chappters we have offeredI am quite sure will help if we can practise what we learn
That would be ideal Terry. Some students are good at focusing all week long and others really do have problems goofing off. The key is to find ways to keep students engaged during class and their studies.
For the Student that works full time and goes to school there is not much time for them to waste. The Students that don't work are usually the ones that come in late and miss time because they have too much time to goof around. I tell them to make good decisions with their time and leave the weekends for the goofing around.
That's great that you coach your students William. And yes, I've seen the same things. Sometimes the bills exist because they are trying to earn an education. Other times, they relate to other life areas.
It sounds like you are providing helpful guidance to your students William. This will likely serve them well in the future.
That's great of you as an instructor Joseph. You likely find that for some of your students, this is the first time they have gone through a prioritization activity.
This is true Louis. Often times, our students don't have a plan for managing their time and that's what gets them into trouble.
I see one of the factors students have is getting here on time for school from work. I feel that if they take a few more minutes planning there daily evnts out the can save time from leaving work to run home to get stuff for school.
The number one time challenge that the students have is dealing with school time and work time and then finding time to do what they like.I try to help my students by having them start to prioritize things to help them with good time management decisions.
The number one time management issue I feel that students have is the ability to prioritize which things are important and which ones can be left for later. Coaching on these items is difficult but far from impossible spend a little time with them making lists and having them prioritize based on different criteria and see where what they thought was important ended up on the list when compared to a goal.
It seems a lot of the students have too many bills to pay, because so many put a higher priority on making money rather their education.
I have coached a few on how to find time to study and work.
I hase students that are working full time and also going to school 6 hours a day which can put a lot of stress on even a well disciplined person. Just by lending an ear and allowing the student to express their situation can help relieve stress. Reminding them the this is temporary and that the sacrifice will be worth it in the end
I have seen a lot of students not take time to work on priorities, (Like school).
Sometimes when they hear what other students have to say they start to change.
Sometimes I spend time listening.
Yes, I have worked with these same kinds of students Dennis. It's so frustrating, especially when they really do want to learn and progress. Our students have to balance so many responsibilities, especially if they work to pay tuition. Perhaps these early life lessons help them later with time management as they enter the workforce full time.
The main issue that I hear of very often is lack of time to study. Many of them have to be at work shortly aftyer class. Others have a few minutes to spare.
With these situations I will sit down and talk with them. Based on what they tell me, most of the time I can "find time" for them to get some studying done.
This lessens the worry that the student may have about "no time to study".
