Grading
I am a little confused how do you know exaclty when to make assigments due? If you have your course sylabus are you allowed to adjust due dates later in the course?
Hi Kathleen,
I concur! Having flexibility is key in the work force.

I usually inform my students that due dates are going to reflect where we are at in the subject matter. Plus, I also tell my students that due dates are subject to change, just like in the real world. It is important to be able to be flexible when changes present in the real world.
Hi Johan,
I concur! We get from students what we expect. Raise the bar high, and you will be surprise the number of students that will rise to the occasion.

I agree. Students need to be held to a certain standard and be made aware of the results of not turning in assingments on time.
Yes you have room to move dates around but if you make the due date to long after the block of instruction they will forget or just not know the material. It will not be a true reflection of if they understand the material.
Hi Amy,
Due dates are left up to the discretion of the instructor. Adjustments can be made accordingly by the instuctor. You should have full academic freedom at your institution.
