Hi Richard,
Guest speakers truly make book content come to life. Students get to hear what they have learned in the classroom being utilized in the workplace.

Hi William,
Guest speakers are the best! They add a breath of fresh air! Students get excited knowing that a guest speaker is coming.

A guest speaker will help inspire students by giving them real world examples of how to utilize the knowledge they are learning.
I have shared the stories of many past students who have had hardships and prevailed, after this module I am now thinking that I need to get them in as guest speakers to really hit home with the class!
I have used several guest speakers and found it to be not only very inspiring to the students but motivational in promoting immediate action on the students part in pursuing their careers. William
Hi Jeff,
When the students are told from the guest speaker how things are going to be in the real world, the students tend to believe the guest speaker. Guest speakers validate what we have been teaching to the students all along.

Hi Sharon,
I have witnessed that students get great enjoyment out of having a guest speaker. They also learn a lot from guest speakers. Guest speakers are like a breath of fresh air.

Guest speakers are one more effective way of breaking down the perception many students have that the process of getting the degree is a different activity than life after graduation. It's often easier for discouraged students to identify with someone who went through school and comes back to share the experience than it is for them to relate to their instructor. Question and answer periods after their talks are key.
It's one more way of establishing the relevancy of the course material. And the guest speaker often reinforces the value of the course and students in it just by being there.
It helps students envision what thier future career has to offer or know the rewards attained.
Hi Georgianna,
I concur! You want a guest speaker this is going to help make things stronger that you have built, not tear things done.

I belive that guest speakers add phenomenal value to the classroom. However, I think that speakers should be chosen strategically because all guest speakers are not alike. It is important to choose a speaker who is relevant and interesting.
I feel this is one of the most important ways to help motivate students. Guest speakers tend to bring in a realty that students can to value and appriciate.
It shows the students that they can handle both school and their personal lives. There can be a balance between the two. Encouragement is a key to success. It also helps the students to relate to one another.
Hi Lisa,
I too love guest speakers, and I have learned that students love them too! Guest speakers really bring book theory to real life!

I am such a proponent of guest speakers and invite them when feasible. For the student who is having second thoughts about completing, I feel a guest speaker can illustrate career advancement in their field, display enthusiaism about the profession, and remind the student why they may have chosen this area to study in the first place.
About half way through a semester when the work load picks up and assignment deadlines are getting closer, I like to bring in a guest speaker to the class. I have brought in former graduates of the technical college and have allowed students to ask questions after the guest speaker's talk. Some questions revolve around the lecture but the guest speaker also has the opportunity to answer student questions regarding the real workplace. By sitting back and listening to the students' questions, I get a better sense of what is on the mind of the students and how to refine my lectures to meet the needs of the students. The guest speaker also keeps me in touch with what is really happening in their field so my content remains relevant.
Hi William,
Nicely stated! Guest speakers are priceless, and they bring book theory to real life! Students love guest speakers!!

Hi Nicole,
You have it! Guest speakers are very enlightening.

I love using guest speakers as resources. I invite a doctor to my class and have him speak to the students and share the real life situations. This also encourages the students and gives them a taste of what they are to expect when they go to the office to intern.
