Student behavior

In career colleges student behavior is somewhat of an ongoing issue. Behavior is learned throughout life. We as educators have to find a positive way to transform our students by teaching them softskills..

Hi Laura,
I know it warms your heart whenever your students return to get approval with their writing. Sometimes, we as educators must take our students under our wings.
Patricia

I have found that with my students who are placed in Basic College English and are required to re-learn grammar that is learned in grade school, that I have to take them under my wing even more so than when I taught high school. Many of the students find that they have not had a firm grasp on grammar, thus dicouraging them when they learn something they already thought they knew. I have found that many of my students from this class come back to me once they have moved on and want reassurance from me that they are writing grammatically correct sentences.

I also find that the students that I take under my wing are more likely to succeed in their other classes because they are going the extra mile to have their questions and concerns answered.

Hi Said,
I too believe that we as educators should definitely take students under our wings. It means a lot to let students know that you really care about them. By letting students know that you care about them everyone feels more comfortable. Over the years I've taken many students under my wings and will continue to do so!

I believe we, being educators should take all students "under our wings". This will then show all students that we are treating everyone alike. This on the otherhand might encourage some of the younger students to feel more comforatble in their environment.

Hello Philippe,
I have found that sometimes you have to take adults under your wings more so than a child. Some adults can act like little children. Adults want special attention too!
Patricia

We should take them under our wings to a certain level specialy when are adult.

Hi Katrina,
It does seem as though our type of students are missing their softskills. We as educators must be their role models and take them under our wings.
