Wayne ,
Love your first statement. And, just as we learn from each other, our students should as well.
Thanks so much.
Alan,
OMG - 63 certification tests. You are a genius and hard worker, but I know as the technology changes, we too must make a change. Keep it up!
Alan and Steven,
Ha! Love you last statement. We have to keep learning and moving forward. Take care.
Hector,
WE all need to keep learning and staying up with technology if we're going to be in "this business." I'm glad you enjoyed this course.
Participating in Professional Development can keep you updated on new technology, new tools, new online facilitation strategies that will make you a better and more effective online facilitator.
I enjoyed the content of this particular course very much.
Hector Morales
That's right Steven. Unfortunately we forget and regress without a tune-up of our skills and knowledge.
God isn't finished with me yet and neither is my wife!
I teach computer networking classes. Whatever I know this year isn't good enough for next year. While I have passed about 63 certification tests I am looking to pass some more such as PMI and additional Windows Server 2012 tests. You can never know too much.
So far, I have found the CEE course to be very helpful. Hopefully, you can still teach an old dog new tricks :-)
Deborah,
I love learning and professional development is a great way to do that! Thanks!
All of us together are smarter than any one of us alone. This is particularly true in the contemporary world where everything changes so rapidly from the obvious such as technology to the less obvious such as generational characteristics. Benefiting from the knowledge and experience of others is paramount to successfully achieving our objectives as instructors. We are better at managing our workload if we can learn from the successes and mistakes that others have encountered rather than using omly trial and error as a means of improvement.
A consistent and well-planned professional development program is essential for the ability to incorporate new strategies and techniques in our capabilities to effectively deliver a relevant and effective education to our students.
This is a means for instructors to communicate and connect with each other as well as refresh our understanding, try out new techniques, and connect with sources and experts to aid in preparing for classes.
Detra and Bennett,
The working smarter, not harder statement is so true. Many times new (and even old) technology can help us do that. Thanks for your input.
Detra,
I love learning and am thrilled you too see it as an ongoing process.
Keep learning.
Austin,
These are great benefits to gain from professional development. I'm hoping this course and these forums have been beneficial to you. Thanks!
Detra,
I love professional development opportunities because I'm a lifelong learner and would be a full time student forever if someone would pay for my classes. Ha! Professional development helps us all improve. I hope this course and the forums have been helpful to you.
Thanks!
Austin,
We do have to be careful to not soon our wheels (or the students) trying to do things "fancy" instead of just getting the content across. Thanks.
Bennett,
I agree! I'm always interested in ways to use technology to improve the delivery of instruction and information to students. I remember trying to get used to the live chat features years ago but am more comfortable with it now. I like working smarter versus harder.
Fred,
Professional development opportunities also opens the door of communication with other content experts. There's nothing like learning and sharing with others. I love taking advantage of professional development activities as long as the focus is on improvement and best practices.
Participating in professional development courses serve as a workload management strategy by affording each instructor an opportunity to tweak their knowledge in their area of expertise; enhance strengths and improve weaknesses. Learning is an ongoing process!
Sometimes instructors waste valuable time trying to understand the LMS technology rather than the course content that would benefit the students.
Professional development courses provide insight required for both time management and workload management in a virtual classroom.
