CMS will be an extremely useful tool in e-learning. i like how it takes into account the different levels of computer knowledge that students have, and the resources available to them.
In my classroom learning we were already using a CMS for many asignments. I'm glad we were since now that we are completely online, students already feel comfortable with that platform. Will have to find new ways to be engaging now that instruction formats have changed.

It is extremely important for me as an instructor to comprehend the nature of the course content, even though I may likely adopt deferent instructional strategies in assessment measures and assignments. Also I learned that as instructor, I should be familiar with the course contenDelivery format/techniques strategies to be effective online instructor and be able to know how to answer several on line questions
Reply to Monica Dawkins's post: So what do you do if there is a problem delivering course content when systems go down due to power outtages, system failures etc.. Is there a fix in place?
It's important that as online instructors both technical and instructor support be simplified.
Teaching Cosmetology theory online is great, using the course management system helps deliver lessons much easier. The system allows you to have discussion with the students on the topic thats being taught. Access to your class roster, create events on the calender, and post grades. The CMS works as if your in a Classroom setting.
This is a more complete list of all the things one should know before beginning teaching an online course. It's a list of what teachers should know how to do, but it's also essentially a list of things that instructors should be clear with their students about by presenting in the syllabus.
At the beginning of the course make sure the Syllabus is gone over and any questions from the students be answered.
it important that the ins have knowledge of the course being taught, have resources and allow students to engage in feedback
I am reminded that even with extensive knowlege of a subject, a good instructor must know the structure of the course and how to keep the students engaged and active within that structure. It is important to look at (and try and use) the CMS from the students perspective.
The importance of knowing the technical portion of the platform. My goal is to get more familiar with the different ways to help students with this part.
I did not find any of this information new, having completed multiple online programs as a student. That perspective does assist with understanding the students needs.
The key to instructor sucess is to have a clear plan and know tech support. The key to the student sucess is to have orientation and know tech support.
I have learned the basic elements in an online learning system. It is important to clearly understand the system and the role & responsibilites of the instructor.
There are many types of platforms for online learning. We have been working through technincal difficulties.
Teaching in an e-learning situation requires more than just content knowledge. Teachers must also have knowledge of the virtual program and be prepared for handling situations where students are frustrated.
That students will be more successful if there is someone there to support them and that like teachers, sometimes the technology issues are more frustrating than the content.
It is important to be prepared. Know your LMS and how to navigate it. Provide students with clear instructions and be able to support them as needed so that they feel secure in the online educational platform.
It is to the benefit of the instructor and student to have a CMS thta is well prepared and executed.
Instructor has to completely knowthe CMS to be able to help students with any question regarding the CMS itself or the topic the instructor is teaching
