When e-learners know that they have support they feel comfortable with the instrutor and the course information that will be presented to them.
Instrutors too must know the basic information prior to the course
We will be the support the student has in technology! I'm not that good with technology so I will seek answers from my support staff at school and I will learn as the students learn.
Understood the importance of Stuctrual Integrity, navigational simplicity, intellectual interaction, active learne-centered learning within online learning.
So far, this course has been helpful in making sure that the distance learning platform that I have used is on track with what I need in order to deliver the proper course information. The only downfall to my platform is that I cannot set a calendar for the students to look at. That would be nice. I do use other social media apps (Remind App) to send a reminder of due dates and upcoming assignments.
Fimilarize myself with the CMS platform that my university has to offer what my college has. Learn the different options and all the technologies that are being offered on CMS. Be very clear and thorough with your expectations for dates and deadlines by clearly writing and communicating with your students. Get students excited and enaged in by utlizing technology.
I learned that there is as much work put into the technical aspects of delivering the course / module / lesson as there are in preparing the course itself. It makes sense, once it is in your thought process.
I have learned that it is very important to be as knowledgeable as possible with what I am teaching online. I have to make sure I am familiarized with that CMS in order to be able to help my students with what they need. Making the student feel at easy and supported with enable them to feel secure and want to learn.
This is a great introduction to setting up your course online. This is a new concept but I am pleased to see I am doing some of these things already. I will ask for more guidance regarding discussions and grading. I am also interested to figure out how to check my students activity and generate a report.
I learned that sturcture is the key. I also learned that you may not want all the information available on Day 1.
This information was very helpful and informative when it comes to our institutions CMS and why is so important for instructors to get familiarize with this system.
I learned the criteria for quality online courses and components of a CMS for students and teachers, as well as being a support for students by knowing the system well. As I read this information, I reflected back on some online coures that I have taken and was reminded that the sucess of the course as well as myself as a student relied on all these components.
Having understanding of the online platform as an instructor is key to delivering successful learning on the students behalf. I liked the idea of hosting an online orientation beforre a course starts, I will share this with my fellow instructors.
I have learned, that as an online insturctor it is important to ensure that all students have every resource available to them. Also, it is my responsibility to post announcements, assignments, videos, due dates along with monitor students progress and keep an open communicaiton. Students should have all questons answered.
Learning how to navigate your Course Management System is essential to being an online educator
With the onset of Covid-19 and the rush to become functional within an online classroom setting, this is very helpful in setting up a continuing on with a course.
I learned that it is important to familiarize yourself with the inner workings of the class infrastructure. Knowing how everything is laid out is an important part of the class experience. I hadn't really thought about that before but now I am thinking about how each decision (like can you take a quiz again) impacts the experiences.
It is essential to have an elearning structure that is easy to follow and has clear directions. Students can encounter hardships and fustrations when the structure is not properly planned and presented. I am going to apply these new strategies by using the Module-Lesson set-up mentioned in the beginning of the course.
I plan to have folders for each week's assignments, resources, PPTs, and readings so the student can easily see one week at a time. On the outside of the folder will be basic things to do and inside the folders will be the actual resources or assignments.
