Platforms like these courses are a great place to explore and learn new techniques and methods

It is important to plan carefully what to include in our online course. We should learn to explore the different technology tools that is in our disposal to enhance student engagement. Also very important to communicate with students from the beginning of the course until the course has ended in order for students to feel that they belong to the class and improve student engagement.

Delivering a successful online course is founded upon consistency.  Using the four O's approach can facilitate the instructor in constantly evaluating the course and update according to their style of teaching, most recent technology, and student needs.

Conistency and layout are important. Don't make things complicated because you can. Don't use a bunch of bells and whistles if they will distract from the content and learning.

the importance of content structure and delivery is uniquly important for online course and takes a different attetion to detail

I learned of the importance of being organized and maintaining the module structure to decrease student distraction from the actual course material.

Ongoing assessment and evaluation are critical to success, because all teaching innovations need to be tested in order to validate academic outcomes and benefits.

By providing a clear and comprehensive outline of course material, establishing effective communication including viable feedback is vital to creating an online learning platform.

You should model your online course after a normal in course/lecture to keep students engaged.

I love the discussion of how much of an impact a welcome letter and best wishes letter can provide.  I will be sure to always implement these in my courses.

I really like that this module focued on the key point that learning tools must match course content and teaching style. Having already launched several online courses, I could not agree more that it is essential to be organized when teaching in both asynchronous and synchronous instruction for student success!

Know your students. Stay consistent. Don't make it too complicated!

I am going to incorporate more self-reflection this upcoming term, something I encourage my students to do. I really want to focus on gathering student feedback and compare them with outcomes so I can constantly revise the course.

I'm always astounded when I read about nursing education concepts that continue to return me to "what do I want the student to learn?" Remembering the focus of what we're doing is vital for best student outcomes.

Transferring a course to an online format will take time and must be thought out specifically to match the learning objectives.

The 4 O's provide insight into course organization and structuring for student learning outcomes. Taking part in engaging students is necessary as it provides them to be involved in the learning process and allows instructors to add a personal touch to make the learning more relevant.

Online instructors must develop student engagement by creating a welcome letter and best wishes statement at the end of the course. We must include varied course content that includes only need to know details and minimal main ideas to increase student retention and engagement.

Keeping your modules consistent and the lines of communication open are important. Having students and peers review your lessons and make comments so that you can make changes that will benefit your students and you.

The most interesting idea in this section was that it may be easier to build an online course from scratch than convert a F2F course to online. Not-with-standing the academic procedural challenges this actually makes a lot of sense. If this is the case we may find that some courses are not suited to online and we may find that t some courses are very well suited to online. This is really the direction that education needs to go, not in 100% online or 100% F2F but optimizing specific courses to their delivery method.

Organization and feedback is important because it will allow us to figure what the strengths and weaknesses are of the online course and where we need to make improvements or adjustment to course content, layout, or delivery.
