Heather,
It is a great way to share info. You can have students responsible for an informative tweet and evaluate the feedback.

I would actually like to try tweeting and using twitter in my online course. I think it would be a great way for students to share information with each other, and for me to share with the students.
Karina,
Those are great ideas. I find using microblogging a great way to work with students to use less words to get points across. It is a great tool for teaching technical writing.

lisa,
I know several people who really find Twitter very helpful in getting message out and to teach students how to communicate succinctly.

I would like to use twitter in my classroom. That way students can add other professionals in the field of which they are majoring in and they can learn how to network.
I would use microblogging to conduct anonymous polls about class assignments and topics covered during that term to gain insight from the students on how to make my class better.
Andrea,

Paula,
I don't know what you mean by this post particularly about the articles.

Currently, as an online professor, I include Twitter.com and YouTube.com for microblogging within my courses. Students really like to utilize both because each is easily accessible.
I would think about incorporating Delicious in my upcoming new courses facilitated.
Discussion Forum is a good activity to incorporate. There are usually many articles related to the topic, which makes the learning enhanced.
Andrea,
So, would you make all students use it? I like using it to teach succinct writing.

As an online instructor, the microblogging activities I would incorporate into my courses include Delicious and Google. Both have excellent microblogging accessibility.
Helena,
Kudos to you for trying the method. You learned from it and you will take that knowledge and apply it to the next course. I agree, when you don't make it worth a student's time i.e. points, they won't do it. Twitter has so many good things to teach our students! Good luck! You will succeed.

I teach a media class and last session I attempted to get the class on-board with Twitter. So I tweeted the students creating #hashtags with topic points. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any students take advantage of the learning opportunity. In part it wasn’t a requirement as well it was a small cohort of students. I’m going to try again next session and see if I can get a better response. It’s a great real-world application to learn!
Ruth,
I love this idea followed by the tweeting strategy. This would really broaden a student's professional world and teach them to disseminate information and share with others.

Kimberly,
How do you grade your discussion board? Do you have specific expectations given to students to meet?
Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Thanks for sharing this resource. Research tools are always needed and the bookmark feature sounds awesome.
As an online instructor, one of the suggestions that I found interesting to use as a microblogging activity is to have students follow an expert on a certain topic. This would give students a glimpse of the real world outside of the classroom. I also like the idea of having them tweet their responses on what they learned. This would give them an opportunity to think critically with the challenge of using limited wording.
I must say that I really enjoy the use of the discussion board. It allows for everyone's participating whether it's direct or indirect.
Gracie,
I love your strategies to using Twitter. That seems to be the place where students are "hanging out" now.
