We have not started admissions yet, but from experience working here, some of the terms that will be used would be:
Enrollment - registration process
Enrollment agreement - Explaining to them that this is a legally binding contract between them (student) and the institution and what is stated on said contract.
Program - explaning what each program requires and what he or she will need in order to complete it.
I am new to this department so it is a great way to have all the "need-to-know" information handy at all times.
I have included all the rules and regulations as well as the institution information, there is still much to learn so i'm sure it will keep growing just like the insitution does as well.
Catalog, financial agreement, enrollment application, are some of the terms we use
We used terms as program: A prescribed group of courses taken in proper sequence to attain a body of knowledge or set of skills.In our case we offer certificate and diploma.
Also advertising: is any form of public notice, of offering training or education to the public or recruiting students to enroll in an institution.We advertise through flyers, radio,television.
Enrollment agreement: Is a contract that is signed by applicants as well as personnel at the institution blinding the agreement to term of enrollment in the program selected.
As an individual that speaks with many prospective students regarding a particular program I work with, I frequently hear and use many common terms and definitions. Many times "Program" and the definition will be utilized. A student will contact our institution and want to know more about the program that I work with, at which time I discuss the program with the student including how the program is sequenced, courses, degree, etc. Another term that is commonly utilized is Title IV or Scholarships. Regarding anything to do with Title IV or Scholarships, I explain to the student that Title IV is available and some scholarships are available, but direct them to the Financial Aide office with contact names, phone numbers and email addresses. Perhaps the other term / definition that frequently arises in conversation with potential students is Enrollment - or rather the Enrollment Process. I answer the question as best I can, but again, direct the student to our Student Services department with contact names, phone numbers and email addresses.
The Resource Notebook is a valuable tool for help admissions staff find information about the policies of the school. We have added a summary page to our resources notebook with the links to pertinent websites. We are also working on a frequently asked questions tool for the manual with reference to specific sections of the manual
This is my first week on the job and I had a phone inquiry asking for the Bursary rep. I didn't know and thanks to the organization chart, found it immediately!
I agree the bulky binders can be confusing. I like to have my information in sections so that it will be easy to find.
My first day I was given a Resource Binder with everything I need to know about the admission department and information regarding programs that we offer. I found it to be a great resource to educate me about the rules and regulations of the school. Even thought I have experience in admission it has been two years since I have done. So much has changed in the past two years. An online admission advisor role is so much different than on campus admission advisor.
So far i have printed all of module 1 & 2.
What i discovered during these two modules is
1- Florida Commission for Independent Education- was not aware of this group. Only familiar with our accrediting body.
