I am learning the Florida Statutes and R&R by designing a compliance notebook, using the CIE website as a resource and providing updates to the admission/marketing team to keep us relevant and compliant.

I find one of the most valuable resources in an institution are the well seasoned employees on staff. In general, they will also be able to provide you with not only Florida regulations, but also with institutional requirements.

I wish there was too! I do check the CIE website, following FAPSC, and check out Florida Administrative Weekly for public notices. Since we are under the Sunshine Law in Florida, all actions must be posted to the public.

I like the idea of the mini binders. You always need some information more often than other types. Is there some type of alert system so that you know that the regulations have changed? It would be helpful if there was somewhere you could subscribe to receive changes or a notice of changes.

Keeping current is an important aspect of our jobs. If we are not current, we run the risk of misleading the student which is against the rules.

Any changes that are posted on the CIE website should be promptly printed and added to the notebook.

I print and posted the statutes and rules and regulations on my bulletin board next to my office computers . I also read them when time permit at least once a week.

You should have all the statutes and administrative code files that pertain to your school. Depending upon the programs you offer, you may include the regulations from the Florida Board of Nursing, or say, Florida Board of Massage.
