Catalog
The institution catalog and enrollment agreement are among the documents that have been approved by the Florida Commission for Independent Education and they must follow the Fair Consumer Practices Statutes and Rules. Therefore the admissions requirements should be complete, consistent, and appropriate for the programs you offer.
Randy,
Your enthusiasm and drive shows! The catalog is so important. Make sure you are using the most current and approved copy.
Stephanie,
Since all schools are regulated in Florida by CIE, the documents should be easy to compare.
Pamela,
You are right on track! The catalog and the enrollment agreement constitute the contract.
Utimatly the Catalog is your go to, for all things related to our school/Campus. we all are individually responsible to ensure the catalog is followed to the letter of the law.
The catalog and enrollment agreement is the written form of information that students will keep and review. Students may be shopping around at several different school and this is a regulated way to keep information organized and accurate.
I find that it's most important to point out the value in the student catalog. I see students treat the catalog like a boring policies manual, however when they need answers, it becomes "gold" all of the sudden. Plus its so important that the catalog be followed down to the letter so to avoid any compliance issue!! If the catalog is treated as the rule of thumb, then compliance is not an issue at all!!!
Jennifer,
Typically the catalog is updated once a year prior to licensure renewal. Any additions or corrections can be made throughout the year with an addendum or supplement to the catalog. Nonetheless, all must receive Commission approval before implementation.
I am new to the Admissions Representative role. I feel the Catalog will be very useful when explaining the institution to the prospective client and letting them know all of their options.
I attended an institution and I can honestly say I do not remember their Catalog. I think it is very important to have a very comprehensive and detailed catalog so the prospective student remembers your institution when they are reviewing the different institutions they have visited prior to making their decision.
Also, the catalog may serve to jog the perspective students memory at a later date to things that you may talk about during your initial discussion.
I believe the Catalog is going to be quite an important tool for me as I embark on this new career!
Typically, how often is the Catalog updated?
Thank in advance!!!!
Yuk,
The catalog and the enrollment agreement together constitute the contract with the student.
The catalog is very important to the students. It guides them and know exactly what to expect and what not to expect.
Jennifer,
The catalog and the enrollment agreement constitute the contract. They both must be current and approved by CIE.
I agree with you. When I was a student I used my catelog often
I agree. The catalog is the first interaction the student has with the school. Also the student can always refer back to the catalog on program info, price, etc.
I agree its important to remain up to date with the catalog and enrollment agreement.
i agree, as a studnet myself prior to becoming an employee, I wanted to know everything about my education. I beleive it is important to have this catelog at hand for every student.
Shayna,
Good point! Many students are comparison shopping. Catalogs have the information they need.
Dequan,
Many compliance issues begin with missing signatures and wrong information. The key is accuracy.
Rebecca,
Check out Standard 11 of the Commission rules!
