Patrick,
You have great influence in the direction of your school by having such active participation.

Patty Aronoff

Joann,
You are keeping well informed! Faculty need to be aware of changes as well. Often they are overlooked. Great job!

Patty Aronoff

Anessa,
We always need to look at meetings as opportunities for learning and growth.

Margaret,
It really is a management decision and is most often determined by the size of your school. You can also watch the Commission meetings via the web if you are unable to attend. Check their website for a link to the meeting.

We have daily Pow-wow and Monthly Town Hall where admissions information is shared with the entire staff, Daily Admissions/Financial aid meetings to discuss enrollments, Daily, Weekly, and Monthly management meetings/downloads as well as annual admissions training.

I attend Product Knowledge meetings (usually includes the Admissions Representatives, Director of Education, and the instructors) to learn more about the programs and what kind of jobs students are training for. Meetings between the Director of Admissions and the Admissions Representatives keeps me up-to-date on our department's rules and expectations. Meetings with the Campus President and Student Finance keeps me on track with financial options for students and our campus' goals for the near future.

We have department meetings on a frequent informal basis to keep up to date on changes and we have the opportunity to ask questions, give feedback to any changes. What I believe is helpful and brings enthusiasm is the periodic meetings with the educators for a particular program. Hearing from them about their program is motivating as well as informative.

I attend the Commission meetings as often as I can (at least twice a year). These meetings are a great place to learn about "hot topics" for the commission as well as trends in the industry.

The Admissions department regulary holds Enrollment Managment meetings where we invite all the department directors to go over "issues" that each department faces. These meetings are extremely helpful. We also hold regular staff meetings that I find very useful.

I attend and participate in many meetings at my institution:
weekly marketing meetings
weekly admissions meetings
weekly manager meetings
monthly all-staff meetings
monthly student services meetings
monthly academic meetings

I contribute at these meetings so others can learn from me; likewise I learn from others about new and changing requirements, policies, best practices, etc.

I attend all staff meetings. I sometimes attend faculty meetings just to keep up with the changes in the institution. I am also a part of the governing board, Admissions team, and Advisory Board meetings. I also has input on curriculum and policy development so I attend any other meetings as necessary to stay up to date.

Patty,

I have been a Director of Education for 3 schools, normally I would be the one holding the meetings for faculty an instructional training for educational staff. I myself participate in frequent Webinar's
and attend Accreditation workshops, keep current with all alerts and chances from CIE.

It is such a big part of our work and I take pride that I am required to do this but do it for professional reasons.

We have two staff meetings and sometimes we will have an extra or two if needed. We also have two advisory board meetings a year. We also got to the Commission meeting once or twice a year depending on time but at least once a year is required. I feel that more meetings for staff should be considered. At lease one a month sounds good. What do you think would be in our best interest?

Anessa,

This is an example of opportunities to continue your learning and update your notebook.

Michael,

Smaller schools have an advantage in quickly building a team.
