I think that communication is an important part of being a recruiter/admissions agent. It better helps you to understand what the student is really trying to accomplish and streamlines your ability to properly help them. Due to regulations constantly changing it is important to keep up with your own company and the changes that will effect students. I personally believe that in order to stay compliant in accordance with not only the federal government but any affiliates or accreditation agencies you need to be a life long student. As a life long student it will really help you to see things from your student's perspective and make sure you are assisting them with their individual needs.
Currently I have never been out to companies that have employed our students and I think this is a great training tool for the admissions process. It gives you the opportunity to describe the place of employment, feel of the environment, and educate us further about programs of study. I am going to see if this is an option for me at my school.
The training is great! just wish they could provide some donuts
I would love to have more training regarding the marketing aspect.
I would like see a training class on the career services process with the student. This would give us a better understanding on what happens to the student on the back end before they graduate.
Getting to know more information from each department/program. Sitting down with the Department Chair(s) of each program isn't as beneficial as maybe sitting down with the instructors that also teach the classes and/or sitting in an actual class!
What other areas of the recruiting/admissions process do you feel would be of interest to you as future training opportunities?
I would like to work in carrier services one day. I like the ideal of helping students getting that job they are looking for.
I would enjoy see the vast difference between the online process and the campus process with enrollment of students.
One area of interest to me would be how to set strong appointments.
New Processes and changes in state and federal regulations, and changes in the the educational environment as a whole
Learn more about the programs and the online class setting.
Sue,
The State Board of Career Colleges and Schools' website is the best place to look for new regulations.
I would like to know more about how to help the student be the most successful in the classroom enviorment.
I think that any and all information regarding my school is potentially valuable. i find i am particularly interested in the career services process. I want to know how we can help put a students new education to work (i.e. resume work, cover letter writing, help with interviewing and various ways that we network to provide information on potential employers).
I think that it is important to fully understand how the Career Services Department works with students before their graduation date. The majority of students I speak with are very interested in knowing what type of assistance will be provided to help them in preparing for a career while in school. Their main fear is that they will not find a job after graduating. If i had a better understanding of what the Career Services Department does to assist students I would be able to better inform these students of the steps we take to ensure their future success.
I think learning more about "career services" and it's effects on students throuout their college career, and post graduation is an area of interest I'd like to know more about. This can\will help my ability to further get students excited about attending school
I would like to know more specifics regarding the marketing and being able to follow a lead from when they first inquired, to when they get to the admissions representative. I would like to know the details and be able to follow the whole process and see it come full circle.
I think there should be a one day training with each department before the start of a new quarter. This will not only help recruiting/admissions to be up to date but also motivate them to perform better.
This is really relevant. The more informed an agent is about the functions of each department, the more well rounded and self-sufficent an agent will be. Even if the agent didnt have all of the answers, they would know the proper direction to lead the student.. The functions of each department, could also be a great tool to have in the Resource Notebook.
Career Services is a department that plays a critical role in a students life. This is why they are coming to school is to land that job that is going to take them to the next level. I would like to spend some time in Career Services and find out the ins and outs of the department. That way I can inform my students what to expect and how we are going to help them.
