integrity

I find this to be one of the most important topic especially in the type of enviorment we work in

This is the one thing I pride myself on. We as admission professionals need to realize what is coming out of our mouth before it comes out. It not only can misrepresent you as a rep but it can lead to more severe consequences. That is why this is always integrated as a training topic in our meetings.

Having integrity and playing by the rules is not only important for the school and the student, but it’s also important for you as a representative because your name is attached to it as well. Those that don’t integrity have a harder time looking into the mirror…bottom line, play by the rules.

I believe in treating every student the same way I want to be treated, with honesty. I always make sure to cover their concerns in detail until they understand. Most of all I never assume the student knows or understands I always ask them questions to confirm.

I agree. It is important that a student know exactly what to expect. I always try to convey work enviornment and expectations to the student to make sure the field is something they will enjoy. It is also important to convey the correct scholastic expectations.

Often the prospet will denegrate another school, but I am careful not to agree with them in terms of putting that school down. I simply re-emphasize what our school offers that other seemingly similar schools may not.

I completely agree. From being in the business now for 14+ years, I have seen many staff members come and go, and it amazes me daily the things I have seen. If you always remember to follow the laws and regs set out for you and treat the student as you would wish to be treated, you can stay in the this field for life.

Integrity is very important in any/all areas of service. You, as an Admission Rep. is the initial representation of you organization. You are a reflection of the organization that you represent, as well as the values you hold as an individual. Being truthful and clear, if feel, is appreciated by the prospective student whether the prospective student sees a benefit to them, or not.

Integrity should be a natural approach in providing any service. I believe it speaks volumes on the agent’s ability to recognize the benefits of the opportunities he or she is presenting. By being forth-coming and honest helps an institution set a standard that places value. You should believe in your own product before expecting someone else to.

It is important that prospective student is in correct program that fits student goals. If not student will not be motivated to finish program and complete career goals which does not reflect well on the school.

I agree with you that the students are quite aware that we are trying to sell them or that we are taking the time they need to make the right decision about comming to school with us. Without integrity we are nothing with it we can help one student at a time aquire their dream.

True. I have a lot of prospective students articulate a career goal that we don't carry a suitable program to help them prepare for. I let them know that we don't currently have an educational path to take them that direction and ask whether they've considered any other career choices.

I like to ask the student if he or she has done research on the career they are wanting to ensure they are selecting a program that they will be interested in.

Integrity is the key to good business. We must always think for the student and always keep their best interests in mind. By creating a students-first atmosphere, we will always remember the right way to do things.

I agree. I have had students make me aware of some of the things other schools say about the school I work for and it's appalling. It is attainable to discuss the benefits of your institution without bashing a competitor.

To be truthful will not only build trust from the candidate to yourself but will more importantly build trust in the institution.

It is also important to know when to tell a prospective student that your program may NOT be right for the career goals they are seeking. A well-informed student will become a retained graduate!

The level of integrity a school holds is it's heart-beat or lifeline if you will. Being open and honest with students and prospectives builds respect for the school and it's employees and helps to breed longetivity. If students feel like they are attending a school of integrity they will tell everyone they know about the school and submit referrals becasue they trust and believe in what the school is providing to them and they trust that others they care about can be helped.
Prospective students are more experienced now about the higher education and are more informative of what questions need to be asked. They know if someone is just "selling them" to get an enrollment that is why it is best to use better judgement and honesty at all times.

I would never steer a student to a program we have just to improve our numbers. I would however make sure that the student understands the career choice. I always encourage students to job shadow as a double check.

I am very careful not to talk badly about another institution while working with a student. Even though I may know things about the other school I will not provide information.

I may tell the student what questions to ask when they meet with someone, but I will not provide them with any answers about the other schools policies, or reputation.
