That's great awareness for moving forward, Nicolette. It's amazing how body language can change the message. What specifically will you plan to do during your interviews to improve your body language?

After reviewing this section, focusing on my body language during interviews is at the top of my list of improvements. I want to make sure I effectively communicate exactly what I'm meaning to say to the person across from me. Very good information.

This is a great place to start, especially since your communication typically begins with a phone conversation. What specifically do you plan to do to improve your phone conversations with students, Gary?

Since most of my communication with students begins with the telephone I want to develop better skills in this area. I want to incorporate listening skills into the conversation rather than just telling the student all about our school. I could learn a lot more about the student's needs this way.

Tis is wonderful awareness to have, Kelly. It is easy to get distracted when talking on the phone. How might you go about improving your listening in those phone interviews to give your students your full attention?

I am going to work on my telephone communication skills because I tend to get distracted easily. I find that I am somewhat impatient when it comes to phone interviews as there are a million other things in front of me that I could be doing. I need to work on listening and responding with 100% of my undivided attention to better serve my students and their needs.

I enjoy face to face communications as well. i tend to be more persuasive in face to face communications.

I need to work on my written communication the most. Proper word usuage, sentence fragments, choice of words used over others are just a few of the things that I have been taking a close look at. I do not want my readers to be mislead.

I also want to improve my telephone communication skills. I do not like when someone asks me a question that I do not have the answers to. I would like to be prepared at all times.

Great awareness, Lindsay. Isn't it funny how your tone of voice can influence others perception of you. It sounds like you're going to make a conscious effort to not convey impatience on the phone. How do you think this might impact your communications with those you work with?

I will work on my tone.

Sometimes I can be shorter with my tone, since I am so busy all day at work.

It is important for me to convey a tone that is interested and not impatient.

Most defiantly my telephone communication skills and even some of my face to face communication skills. I have been told that my tone can come across very sharp and stern, even when I do not mean to come across as stern. I feel that tone is the most important aspect of communication. In face to face communication I am able to soften my tone with my body language, unfortunately we are not able to see people when we are speaking with them on the phone. I find myself repeating things that are said to me so that it gives me time to think about how to soften my tone or what I will say.

show how important it is to have a career as professional development is one of the most important bases for them to integrate into the community.

Thanks for sharing, Carlos. Communicating by phone can be difficult, indeed. The important thing is that you are aware that this can be a challenge for you. Once you have that awareness you can then make the choice to do something different! What might you do differently to improve your next phone call?

I Think that my phone skills are a little weak.. I think that is weakest point right now.

Being able to see facial expressions and changes in body language can be really helpful when communicating with others. With the technology advances that we've seen today, it is also sometimes considered a luxury to have a face to face conversation. How might you work to ensure you're communicating effectively on the phone or through email, Alicia?

Face to face is bettet to me because I can read the other persons facial expressions and body language

Great insight, Jany! Technology has certainly encouraged us to expand our messages and the way we connect with students. What ideas do you have for improving your written communications to students?

I would like to develope written communication, because must of the time is more effecctive to reach the student through e-mails, it is very important for me to use the correct words and to expand the message with the correct idea.

Face to face communication is a wonderful way to get more information about the conversation (body language, facial expression, etc.). I'm guessing that you probably also work with students via phone and email, too. Since you don't have the luxury of seeing the student in those situations, what might you try to listen for instead?

I think that face-to face communication is an strong method due to it is possible to gain more information from the student and more confident.
