For Profit

This course was a good review of information for the for profit colleges.

Concern

When I was teaching on Campus, I had a student with disabilites. Often times her mother would leave her on campus for several hours after classes ended. It seemed unusual.

When the student had to go to the restroom she asked for help. I was concerned about liability. I explained we were not trained in helping people with the physical disabilties she had and we had no one to assist her.

What would you have done?

how to learn specifics on compliance

I enjoy taking these FAPCS courses nut sometimes we have a very specific question on how to validate compliance issues.

How can we find specific answers after training is over?

For-Profit

Great information for people working for a "for-profit" institution.

Good Information

It is never to late to learn new methods or skills ;no matter how long one been teaching.

For Profits - Very Informative

This lession provided a very good overview of for profit colleges.  I found it extremely informative.

Special considerations

There are students with dusabilities not easy to idrntify. How to proceed with those cases if the student is not openly sharing?

FERPA

This course should be reviewed by everyone. FERPA regulations are presented in a manner that is understandable and applicable.

Compliant Communications with Students - Raising the Bar!

This traning has really reminded me of all of the changes that have taken place in the education field since the safe harbor laws were updated to more specific standards in the education field.  Many of these topics were part of communications over the past years since 2012, but it really reflects on some very specific changes regarding financial aid verfications and additional securities to protect the students among many other topics.  I also was able to review some proper language to use with students when interacting with them.  Students get upset at times becasuse of the information requested of them when applying for financial aid, but these are Federal laws that must be followed and it is very important to communicate an educate the student.  Great informatoni that can be applied every day!

UD

I find the concept of Universal Design to be an intelligent way to include an upgrade on a campus that benefits everyone.

FERPA

I am glad we have this measures such as FERPA in place for our students.

Admission Requirements in Texas by TWC and TDLR?

I am opening my first cosmetology/esthetics/nail tech/massage school and it will be opening in Texas. I am a novice and need some help. I see on here that Admissions must be in the guidelines of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), Career Schools and Colleges. However, I believe I must also do the admission requirements of Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). Must I understand the Laws and Rules under both agencies and get myself informed with a attorney? Is there another person who can guide me to make sure I understand each section? Is there certain important documents I should see?

Anything is helpful and thank you in advance for your support!

Answering if a student is present

If a family member or friend calls to see if a student is present at the school can you answer their question?

Our Role As Administrative Leaders

What do you think our role as administrative leaders on campus for maintaining compliance and regulatory agencies?

Information for share

I had learned if a person have a disability and they choose a carrer that maybe will be hard for them, you have to explain all about that carrrer and the person have to made a desition by their self if they can handle it.

Student

Question about student John Doe, please have studnet come in to fill out paper work.

What is a 3rd Party Service Provider

I was surprised at some of the answers to Quiz 1 in the FERPA class. What is a 3rd Party Service provider, and under what circumstances would they need to see a student's educational record?

What is considered Educational Record?

I have been misinformed on what constitutes an educational record. I have learned a lot so far.

Challenges in Higher Education

I think the main challenge is that of affordability. 25 years ago a person could make enough money to go to college by working part-time. Today, that is impossible.

The business of student loans has gotten out of hand.
