Being clear in your instructions will help each student succeed. Also effective communication is important.

My take away from this section is that students with learning disabilities may need a different style of teaching in order to be successful in the online environment. This means adapting to the disability to accomodate the student.

I learned that permission must be obtained to record students for public display.

Records are obtainable under FERPA if a former student is deceased. 

Certain criteria must be met when disclosing information about a student even if the student is still academically enrolled. Laws prohibit disclosure of things like grades and academic status. 

I learned that a fine is not always given for a violation but there can be a 5 yr penalty placed.

Being team-oriented is going to play a big role in passing compliance regulations. Each person must know their role. 

Protecting copyrighted material and student information is extremely important. Also schools should utilize a variety of methods to communicate their compliance. 

The reimbursement of funds can depend on the type of school the student attends when it pertains to federal funding. What I learned is that there can be similar and different guidelines depending on the institution. 

Students are allowed to take an LOA but must pick up where they left off.
