sharita, You are correct - providing this additional step will encourage a third party of the importance and necessity of the information. It is important that we as FA Administrators strive toward improving the process and increasing confidence in our students and the process. Sincerely, Chyrl Ayers
Latoya, You have a very valid point on the importance of accuracy and how that translates to the student experience. It has been my experience that all three of these characteristics go hand in hand for a successful student process and experience. If you are accurately handling students then this should translate to good service and timely processing. Sincerely, Chyrl Ayers

Michael, Your position is very interesting and may be the first time an Aid Administrator has indicated that they do not do or consider doing PJ's at all. The guidance from ED on this subject is not detailed with set guidelines due to a professional judgment being very personal to a student's specific situation and the expectation is for us as FA Administrators is to evaluate each student's situation independently of preset requirements. However, I do agree that PJ's are not the norm and should be the exception. Sincerely, Chyrl Ayers

sharita, Completely agree resolution requiring action by another institution can be difficult and frustrating to you and your team. The best I advice I can provide is to handle with the student and other institution professional and stress the need for resolution. However, sometimes nothing you do can resolve the issue of an overpayment other than the student repaying it. Sincerely, Chyrl Ayers

Michael, The situation described is often occurs and many other institutions have indicated the same issue. You and your FA team have to evaluate all situations and determine if the documents clearly document that the student did not willingly and knowingly failure to register. There are times this is can be a difficult decision. Sincerely, Chyrl Ayers
Michael, I agree with your comments. When verification changed in the 2013-2014 award year we took the sam approach - evaluate the category and only require documentation specific to that category and the student's (parent if applicable) situation. It has drastically reduced errors and the creation of conflicting information. Sincerely, Chyrl Chyrl Ayers

Michael, I think most of us in the FA Community are coming to appreciate the IRS DRT functionality. It has improved the user experience and relieves the FA teams of one additional responsibility. It is great that you and your team have embraced the online process with success. Sincerely, Chyrl Ayers

Nichole, I completely understand the type of situation you have described. I often say that sometimes a PJ is not the best process for some students. It is important to evaluate each situation and process in the most appropriate manner for the student. Sincerely, Chyrl Ayers

Nichole, Many of the participants have commented on the difficulty associated with Selective Service. Most of the comments relate to the length of time to receive the notification from Selective Service. In addition many participants have commented on the difficulty associated with resolution when dealing with many servicers. Sincerely, Chyrl Ayers
Nichole, Based on your comments it appears that your process has many avenues. It is important to have different approaches not all students respond to the same method. Sincerely Chyrl Ayers
