Hi Ruth! All the more reason to ensure that no one feels like someone else is getting more attention/assistance than another. So how do you think an instructor can make that happen? Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Greetings Ruth! Sharing life experiences in the classroom setting provides such great learning opportunities. The one thing that I tell my students is that we walk down the same road of life but we each make different footprints. Therefore, our experiences can offer another way of viewing the world around us. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi Frank! What baseline test do you use for assessing students with learning needs? Good job! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Greeting Ruth! This approach really feels more like picking like-minded people rather than randomly picking. So - what other method could you use for selecting groups? Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Great Colleen! This is a real world approach. Employees want always be compatible with other group members but they have to keep in mind the organizational outcomes. Therefore, they must work together in the accomplishment of the common goal. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi Colleen! You make such an excellent point about staying connected with students when you move around. It makes students feel like you - the instructor - are more approachable and that you care about their learning outcomes. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator

Hello Sara, Thomas and Renaldo! Each of you made excellent comments about why and what the outcomes of locating yourself in the classroom can be for students. Clearly - engaging students in classroom activities is key. It really is another form of communicating with students. Instructors are telling students that they are genuinely interested in their learning outcomes. A comment that I have for Thomas about the distractions from cellphones, ipods, etc. Have you given any thought to using those tools to your advantage particularly the phone. You could play learning games, provide quiz/test reviews. Give it some thought how… >>>

Hi Sara! Please share some of those "tricks" with all of us. I'm sure we would all benefit and greatly appreciate the learning opporotunity. Good job! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi Brant! You are exactly right and no matter how hard an instructor works to prevent this from happening invariably it does. I like forming a group of no more that 3 students on the second day of class. Discuss the importance of group work and the group process. Then have them to work together as a team from the beginning. This enables the students to get to know each other and - I feel - helps them to become more synergistic. Any other ideas out them? Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Greetings Shanon, John and Brant! Increased time/attention by instructor Observation and action Group time and more visual content Great comments! I like to pair a student with another student. This strategy has worked very well for me. I have watched a student move from very low self confidence to a sense of real accomplishment. And - a by product is that a new friendship has evolved. I am curious how you have been able to identify the students who have a learning disability? Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
