We as educators have to develop a desire to listen, create a capacity to listen and be able to evalute and respond to what you hear.

Communication style, listening skills, body language and your ability to manage conflict and provide solutions are all key ingredients in customer service.

I found monitoring to be most effective when you provide solid feedback on how the assignment deviated from the expectations and how they could improve on future assignments. However, before you can be an effective monitor, you must have the respect and trust of your students. This is gained by handling people with tact and skill. If you have a student who is upset about a grade, respond rather react. Remove the emotion out of the equation. Emotion + Reaction= Out of Control. Focus on Event+ craft a response= positive outcome.

Valuing diversity is what educators, organizations and members of communities do to acknowledge the benefits of their differences and similarities. They work to build sustainable relationships among people with diverse backgrounds. Some students are visual, audio or hands on learners and each classroom session should incorporate all three styles to keep students engaged.

Team Work provides organizational basis for satisfying the common interest between the business and individual needs and aspirations. For the organization: Teamwork Builds on group strengths. Increase available pool of skills and knowledge and aids development. Give sound framework for positive attitudes and performance measures. Creates conditions for new ideas to flourish. Provides framework for an organization to grow and develop. For the individual: Satisfies social instincts Increase opportunities for skill acquisition, job enrichment and aids career advancement. It allows information sharing to operate for self improvement in a supportive environment.

I measure my effectiveness by my ability to communicate. Communication is the cornerstone of success. Effective communication aids learning and development, builds bridges and relationships, while ineffective communication can create misunderstandings, conflict and confrontation. As a result, I pay special attention to: • What I say • How I say it • What I meant • How its received and interpreted • Interpersonal dynamics • Timing • Voice, tone pitch and rhythm • And ask questions to gain or confirm understanding and comprehension
