Joel, Any other suggestions or examples? Dr. Ruth Reynard
Joel, I think this is about instructional design rather than the technology. Often when teachers integrate new technology, they become passive and rely on the technology to "teach" the students. As we know, this is not how it should be and actually with the use of new technology, teachers are needed more than ever but specifically in guidance and direction rather than information-sourcing students. Erika, Yes, it is and helps to expand the learning well beyond conventional constraints. This supports the learning for more students. Dr. Ruth Reynard

Joel, Can you think of ways this has happened for your students specifically using the Internet? Dr. Ruth Reynard

Manol, Yes, the Internet connects and also distributes ...and....mediates the learning process. Great points! Dr. Ruth Reynard
Joel, Yes, it also streamlines the experience for both on ground and online. The more streamlined it is, the easier the transitions will be for students and faculty from one mode to another. Dr. Ruth Reynard

Janelle, The Internet does provide easy and direct access to much more information than any one teacher can offer. The role of the teacher, however, is to guide and direct the use of that information within the learning context. Good points! Dr. Ruth Reynard
Janelle, Good observation, Janelle. Yes, the concept is full participation which, as you say, is always the goal. In a context that uses digital tools, however, the "footprint" of the student or lack of one, is much more immediately apparent. Dr. Ruth Reynard
