If discussion boards are a part of your online platform you've surely run into a student who is completely put-off about something. Sometimes the comments are merely eye-roll inducing while other times they are scratching the surface of bringing other folks down (making an otherwise happy student decide that they, too, aren't happy). When this occurs, instructors basically have two proactive solutions: replying with humor or killing them with kindness to help them "develop a better language of constructive feedback". I thought that overall the course provided a good overview to online instruction. Hoping to perhaps find a course for seasoned online instructors that has less focus on logistics/structure and more information on troubleshooting/idea sharing/instructor re-invention.

The institution that I instruct for is wonderful and there are very few things that I would change. However, it seems like every session I have at least one (or sometimes a small angry mob) of students who see Psychology as a major barrier on their way to the completion of their certification/diploma program. These often vocal students like to communicate their disdain immediately--in any public venue--seemingly with the hope that I will be able to wave my magic wand and release them of their requirement.
