Organized and prepared to teach

Why is it important for an instructor to organized and prepared for each class?

Maricar,
True, and also our classes will run smoother when we put in the effort to make them ready.

Barry Westling

Being organized and prepared is important because if students sees this they will have trust and look you as professional

Nicole,
Modeling expectations provides the best oppotunity for students to copy and emulate what they see. We really owe our students more than just theory and skills, but professional soft skills that also help their job prospects just as much.

It is so important for the instructor to be ready for class. If you are not ready, it promotes the students to not be ready. You should always model the behavior that you want to see in your classroom.

Dawn,
True, we can be effective role models and examples of what is expected, both for ourselves and of our students.

Barry Westling

I believe it is important because it shows the students that you are prepared for the day. How can we expect them to be prepared when we are not.

If we are not then the students will think.. why do I have to have my homework done before class if the teacher didn't do their's. If we are orgainized the students will see we care about their learning and respect us.

Bernadette,
We want to be ready, organized, and prepared from the get go. We can be role models for readiness that students may want to pick up and emulate for their own level of professionalism. One thing for sure, when it's absent, students will have no model to refer to.

I think that we need to be prepared for class because in a classroom we lead by example, so how can we ask something of our student that we don't demand of ourselves.

lisa,
Students are perceptive and can tell almost immediately how much preparation their instructor has created. When see a well organized class, materials and resources readied, and their instructor waiting for them and the class to start beforehand, that sends a strong message, and possibly may serve as a role model for students be prepared in like fashion.

Barry Westling

I think it is so important for a teacher to come prepared for class. The students need to know there is a plan for the day. That you put time and effort into what they will learn. And that it wasn't just something thrown together last minute.

Lisa,
Good point. I think we can role model but ultimately it's up to the students to comply and adhere to our standards. But giving a good example is a good example to set.

It is important that I arrive to class organized and prepared to teach. I am modeling professional behavior for my students when I do so. I am also holding myself to the same standard that I set/expect from them. This also allows them to trust me, to believe that " I practice what I preach." I am also showing them that I care about them and that their education and that they and their education is important to me.

Mark,
Right. I think students want an instructor who holds to a well planned, organized lesson. Even allowing for questions and some wiggle room, staying close to what has been planned demonstrates thought and effort has gone into the preparation. Adult students will appreciate their instructors contribution in this way.

Respect and it is the best use of an adult's most valauble resource, Time. Your ad hoc nature will only lead to more and more as it only dominioes to the curriculum and before you know you don't get to all the learning objectives and the students's don't get the learning they were promised.

Jeffery,
Preparation and organization does convey competence. It also streamlines the daily workload, as all resources, materials and learning tools are ready and waiting to be implemented.

Barry Westling

it shows the students that you re prepaired to teach and that they should be prepaired to learn. they will be more likely to listen to someone who is prepaired and organized than to someone who is not

Rena,
We've got a job, (one we were hired for by the way) and students want and expect guidanace and direction. And that is unlikely in a setting where disorganization and unprepardeness exists.

Barry Westling

It is a shame to walk in to the class unorganized and unprepared.

The students are there waiting for you to learn, to get an information .
Even more they are trying to see how an interesting will be their carrier if you are making it more presentable.
