Hi Amanda:
Class attitudes vary, but surely, sometimes these undesirable attitudes develop from our own doing - not having everything prepared in such a way as to allow the class to flow smoothly.

With preparation, topic after topic transitions methodically. All resources, materials, copies are present. This says "I'm ready, and you're a part of the action!"

Regards, Barry

It is important to be prepared for class , so that you are able to use your class time wisely and keep students engaged. A class that is not organized is a disaster , student become aggrevated uncoorporative and very unattentive if they are given idol time . You should always try to be as prepared as possible.

Hi William:
There's truth there. But I also think there has to be a level of competency to back up that perception or soon, students will adopt a different perception (one that is less flattering).

Regards, Barry

Perception is reality! If you look and act the part. The students will think you know something.

Hi Niurka:
Very true - an organized lesson reflects segments of sequential points about a topic. Delivering those segments using a variety of resources that help keep students engaged and the class interesting does make for better classes. Students feel better wjen they sense the teacher is competent and confident in the material they're facilitating.

Hazelyn:
Dedication can be demonstrated in so many ways, but none is more evident than a prepared teacher, awaiting the arrival of students, with all materials laid out, copies made, notes on the board. It states "I'm ready". Students will see that time, effort and thought have gone into this day's lesson.

When you are not prepared it makes it difficult for students to learn. When you are not organized it makes it difficult for me to prepare to teach

Shows professionalism and dedication in teaching which makes a successful instructor.

Hi Coleen:
True, very true. Students look to us for many things, and by being prepared and organized, they pick up on these cues as important, and many emulate what they remember seeing their teachers do.

Hi Barry,

This not only shows respect for your students, but also shows them the meaning of dependability, and responsibility in the work place. We have to be the leaders of setting these examples.

Hi Miriam:
Right! When we've organized our class and prepared tyhebresources, materials needed, made the copies, and everything is nicely laid when students begin to arrive shows that your effert and time has gone into getting ready for this class, and that this teacher is serious about this class".

Regards, Barry

It is important for an instructor to be organized and prepared for class because it allows them to prepare for and know the material they will be presenting to their students. I know as a first time instructor I appreciated the time organizing and preparing so that I could feel more confident when presenting to my class.
An organized and prepared instructor also shows their students and school the importance of professionalism and their commitment to provide a good educatin.

Hi Shawn:
I agree we as teachers should be models of professionalism whenever we can. Of course being early to ready the class, gather the resources needed, handouts ready, copies made. When students arrive to a waiting classroom it infers "this teacher is serious about the class". It also reflects that the teacher cares about the student and their learning.

Regards, Barry

An instructor needs to provide an example of professionalism to their students. Showing up late/at the last minute implies that you don't really care about the class, and forces you to prepare when you should already be in the process of teaching.

"If you're late, go home. If you're on time, you're late. If you're early, you're on time."

Hi Reagan:
When I'm prepared, my hope is the students would respect me for the time and effort I've put into the class. For me, whether that respect comes or not, I am determined to be the most valuable resource I can be to my students.

Trust, confidence, respect - these are great if they occur but are not my motivation. I am going to work just as diligent with the slacker as I am with my superstars to get them to unbderstand the course material. Respect and trust are often not traits demonstarted by slackers.

Regards, Barry

Hi Jim:
This is perfect! Having the practice engines set up before students arrive demonstrates to you students you spent time and effot to get the faulty engines ready for class. That really reinforces the students confidence they have in you.

Regards, Barry

I always have all of my handouts ready before class starts . In my educational setting we work on automobiles and the students are required to diagnose faults in different automotive systems. I always test the vehicles to make sure the faults are set properly before the students go to lab.

Beingan organized instructor, who is prepared to teach their class, lets the students know their time and they are respected by the instructor.

Hi Kathryn:
Good - hopefully the results you describe will occur. When we're prepared, we can teach better by knowing we have the materials, resources, and game plan mapped out, and the students will see that effort in getting ready for the class has occurred.

Regards, Barry

It keeps the teacher on point, class organized, focused and moving.
