Tiwauna,
Right. When we present a prepared and organized appearance, classes run smoother, students have better respect and attention for the class, and there is a better opportunity for student learning oiutcomes to be met. Besides, this our job to be prepared!

Barry Westling

It is so important for an instructor to be organized and prepared for each class because it sets the stage for learning. The students will respect the order and be eagered to learn. Also it motivates the students to be organized and prepared on a daily basis.

Ron,
There's no doubt a good first impression can produce lasting results. Besides preparation being a key job responsibility, classes run smoother and students learn better in an environment that's organized and readied with all needed materials and resources.

Barry Westling

An organized and prepared instructor allows
1. students to see that one is organized.
2. Organization reduce chances of silly mistakes.
3. First impressions of an organized instructor help develop the image in which students will remember. Student will perceive that the instructor is in control and knows what they are doing.

Nicholas,
Being ready for whatever comes up is a great attiribute to possess, and students appreciate an instructor who is willing to go the extra mile in providing assistance.

Nicholas,
Also, a well prepared instructor is able to focus on the material and the individual needs of student understanding. Besides, it's our job!

Barry Westling

It is important to be organized because the students will respect you more. They have a feel when you are not prepared. I am always ready to teach and ready to take on what the subject will bring that lesson.

David ,
I agree that respect is often a byproduct of preparedness. I would also say that is not my motivation, although it is nice when it occurs. I feel my job is prepare well, teach well, and do all I can to help my students succeed. If they respect that, then great. However, not all do, and that's OK too.

Barry Westling

A student wil pick up if the instructor is not prepared. Also, whan being prepared, the instructor is more confident during their presentation.

The best way to earn your students respect is to demonstrate that you are prepared. If you have prepared for each class you will clearly demonstrate that you have taken the time to review the material and that expectation is imparted upon each student that they also should prepare for class.

Tiffany,
Serious instructors, can lead to serious students. Of course by serious I don't mean stiif or unfriendly. By no means. I mean ready, prepared, and organized so that students recognize time, effort and planning has gone into each lesson. We set the example.

Barry Westling

Instructors who are organized are better prepared to teach, and this shows the student that he or she takes their education seriously.

Jenny,
Using the same metaphor, even when the individual parts are in tune, if they are out of snychornization with the leader (instructor), the results will not be pretty. Getting students to be in synch with the instructor occurs in part by having an organized plan, resources gathered, and redied daily lesson plan for all to follow. Smooth and pleasant is the result.

As the course outlines, an instructor is a conductor of an educational orchestra. An unrehearsed orchestra does not produce a pleasant sound. The same is true in the classroom. An instructor presenting class without preparation, cannot produce a hamonized presentation.

Claire,
Often, we have one chance to make a good first impression. That impression can be long lived if it is backed up with good solid preparation and readiness. Students benefit, and the class runs smoother when good organization has preceded it.

Barry Westling

It' important to be prepared before class so that

you set a good example
you know what you want to achieve during the class time
you maximize efficiency of time
you can better fit today's lesson with the curriculum
you are more likely to achieve the learning outcomes

Carol,
This sounds like a very organized approach to thionking and planning for future lessons, even if they are repeating in nature. I think haviving materials readied and easwily accessible when I need them is a key to effective time management, which of course, benifits the strudents as much as the the instructor. Smooth running classes are better classes, in the eyes of the students.

Sheila,
I know when I'm prepared, I feel more confident, energetic, and upbeat with the material I need to present. That energy transfers to students. We may be role models, or students may just see us as this is how this instructor operates. Either way, we owe our students our full effort in planning, preparaing, orgainzing, and presenting essential material.

Barry Westling

It is important for a teacher to be organized and prepared to teach because it gives the teacher a solid reference of material specific to each topic. I keep each of my lesson plans in individual color-coded notebooks. Each notebook has an outline of the lesson followed by power points and reference material.

First it helps the instructor with conducting class in an efficient matter. Second if the instructor is prepared, the students will see this and be prepared themselves. The instructor is setting an example.
