Handouts

What to do when college does not permit colored handouts or handouts in color?

I did not think of color coding the handouts. A very good idea and falls in line with colored tabs in three ring binders. I also like the idea of using power point to produce the handouts. The options are better as you can incorporate symbols and so on.

I have the same problem of not being able to use colored cover sheets for my handouts. Your use of highlighters definitely makes sense. A few minutes with a highlighter solves the colored sheet problem - and it is amazing how easily students respond to such a simple technique.

Vickie,
Hyperlinks are great for supplemental study too, when embedded in a PPT presentation, students have access to and can just click their way to more information.

I like that response helps me to use other links for more options.

Abayomi,
The rule I use is employ whatever tool works best for student learning. I also try to add as much variety as possible.

I actually use PowerPoint to produce handouts you may find that a word.doc may offer more options

I actually color code my handouts using different colored highlighters. It takes a few minutes to highlight each group of handouts but it's worth the time.

Can't handouts be done in pdf form digital?

I am in the same situation regarding color copies and paper. I try to use different fonts and Word Art when possible. I don't like to hand out one-sided paper, so I sometimes use half sheets and copy on the back as well.

Lisa,
This module provides suggestions. Of course, there are others ways to achieve the same outcome.
