It's true, authors and instructors have different goals. The author is paid to provide all their is to know about a subject, whereas an instructor must impart the needed knowledge and skills for successful and sustained employment.

Right, good outcomes would at the minimum include the skills and knowledge associated with realistic employment expectations. Problem solving, written and oral communication, and and a posiitive attitude are among other practical goals.

Readiness for the work setting is a hoped for goal. And I think that also includes soft skills such as good writing and communication, professionalism, dress and grooming,and a positive attitude. These attributes are not always included in the curriculum but still are needed for success in the workplace.

I believe the goal of education students is to give them knowledge on the areas of content as well as prepare them for being in the workforce. That is why it is important to ensure they are learning the content as well as holding them to the policies of the course.

Sounds great! Of course, we all want success for our students, and preparing them with the knowledge, skills and professional behaviors should be our focus on a daily basis. I think possessing good problem solving ability and communication skills are also essential for success in the work setting, albeit more difficult to achieve with every student.

My main goal in educating students is to prepare them for their future career. I want to instill a love for their future profession and a desire to learn as much as possible in the classroom to facilitate the transition from student to professional.

I would also add good communication and critical thinking skills. Students need common sense, problem solving, and manners to keep their jobs these days.

Career college students are looking to get out into the workforce. If we can prepare them by giving them the education and knowledge they need to be productive in the workforce, then we have help them reach their goal.
