I am now at a career college, but I have also taught adult basic education, high school and eighth grade.
No matter what level I've taught, an unwritten goal that I always incorporate into my subject area is that of soft skills. Our education is not very valuable if we cannot apply our learning to life... and lacking soft skills can get in the way. (timeliness, relating to others, having respect, etc...)
My subject is English. As such, I am a proponent of the value of reading and writing literacy--no matter what profession one is shooting for. Currently I am at a culinary school, and I am fortunate to have countless examples of how chefs utilize literacy in their lives. My students and I look for and discuss the words of chefs--well known or not. We look at the many ways that we communicate about, over, and/or with food.
I want them to realize that receiving a career education degree includes being well-rounded. They can take what they've learned in the academic classrooms and use it in all areas of their lives.
By the end of the course, I feel I have helped students hone their literacy skills, and thus learn, for they apply what we have practiced and discussed as they move from the classroom to the kitchen. It's pretty cool.

My goal in educating students is giving them the skills that allow them to learn. Therefore no matter what they are learning they are able to use it in a critical thinking senerio.

The main purpose of me being in the classroom is to focus on the students. For without our students we have no foundation and I really enjoy their input in class. When you envolve the students with their purpose for learning the information the outcome is much greater.
The goal of educating students, for me, is to make sure there is a group of students out there, who know what they are doing in the healthcare field, ad to make them the best possible tech they can be.

My goal is to bring the new batch up to speed. The student is there to learn and absorb what the instructor is putting out. It is the instructors job to reach the student and help him grasp the material being presented. If the instructor is not successful at educating the student then it has been a waste of time for both. The student has to learn the skillset to be able to be effective and productive in the career path he has chosen.Educating the student at that time is the goal that has to be achieved.
