Variety keeps the students engaged. Varying delivery methods keeps the learning process exciting. Changing styles allows the students to remain attentive.
Hi Jackie,
I like this approach. This is a strategy that gives learning options to students and shows them that you are customizing your instruction to their learning needs.

Hi Jackie,
Variety in instructional delivery enhances student involvement. Your comments are right on in respect to this point. This way the students will be engaged and focused on the course.
Gary
At the beginning of class at times I do ask my students how they best learn and write those options on the board. What happens is that I now know how to approach the lessons and some people in the class say they thought they learned best one way until someone mentioned another way of learning and they found that they learn in that particular way as well. It is a great exercise and helps break the ice in the class.

You want to ensure that each student is learning and getting something out of the class. In order to ensure this you must use different methods of instruction to ensure you are covering the different ways that people are currently learning in your class as everyone has a different learning style. You will also engage the entire class and keep them interested in the topic being covered.

Hi Carl,
Maybe you could develop mini-lectures of key law concepts and use the segment to introduce what the students will be using when they do the cases.
Gary
Hi Marlene,
What are some of the strategies you use that have proven to be effective with your students? Thanks for sharing these with us.
Gary
I never gave it a thought as to the mini lectures. This may be somewhat difficult in my law classes versus case and lecture, but I may try it on the introductory classes.
Students have different learning styles. I like to use lecture and group discussion a lot in my classes. If I am assigned to a computer room, I make use of the computers, and give the students an activity to research individually or in groups. Then the information that the students discover is presented and discussed. I also like to use role play.
I am mainly teaching nursing courses, and it is a challenge to incorporate all the necessary material into learning delivery options, other than lecture. I also find that some groups prefer lecture over other teaching methods. I really like the idea of mini-lectures, then engaging the student in summarizes the important points.
I agree also short lectures in details and apply after and get feedback.
Instructional approach are different from daytime to nighttime because daytime students are alert and active while night students are already tired.
You need to assesss one needs on their style of learning and you can ask one by one so you can get the ideas that help you a lot for your instructional application.
you can divide the big groups on 4 students in one group so everyone had their input in their subject matter.
simple applications on learning is the best way the students can easily understands it.
Different backgrounds and culture that you apply to each one of the student and learn their different experience.
Diversity backgrounds on each student helps a lot to work with different instructional methods.
One of the most effective ways that i've experienced is simply put the class into groups so that expanding the concepts of practical applications.
Instructional delivery varies most ,so that everyone learns differently in different subject matter.
i will try to use the visual/auditory learning style.
Demonstrating the different instructional delivery methods on every learning style within your student population and diversity.
