It makes understanding the information easier. All students pick up info their own way.
I teach medical coding. In my course there is alot of homework praticing coding problems usually 20-30 problems. I give my students certain strategies on how to accomplish this task. Some students do better if they divide up the problems and do some every night, other students do a couple of problems, get up from their desk do something else, then come back and work some more (Kinesthetic). I find down the road they develop their own styles as time goes on.
Very important if you want all your students to learn what you teach them.
